Well im 6'1.5 and arnd 185 pnds and like most of my peers in my neighbourhood and city ... im of an average height...
Interestingly ..my Parents are of about 5.7 and 5.5 roughly..and theres a similar trend with most parents around here.

Id have to go with what FairandUnbiased said ,its more to do with living conditions than it is to do with genetics.
Just my personal experience ,i could be wrong.

I think it is good that we will remain in focus of aid agencies and NGOs who are doing a good job.
If some people inflate the figure knowingly that will be wrong. But I would not underestimate the malnutrition issue.

indian people are genetically just of a smaller stature and tend towards the lean, obviously not all there are exceptions, but that is what they are.

Mate what city is that? I am about 6.1' and around 180 pounds myself, pretty average in Australia, but when i go to India I feel like a giant
