Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi, who believes in speaking his heart out without any hesitation, says he is happy that Muslims are being treated well in India.

“Given our situation in India where there are people of different castes, different religions staying in our country, we are doing pretty well. No major problems have erupted,” Emraan told IANS.

Emraan was one of actors who raised his voice when he wanted to buy a house in the posh Pali Hill, but the housing society refused to give him the NOC because of his religion.

“I cannot comment on the flat status… can’t say that it does not exist or exist (but) it’s a great accomplishment for all the government bodies and everyone here that we are living in harmony to a certain extent. I believe we are doing pretty well. I would say that Muslims are being treated very well in India,” he said.

The actor is currently busy promoting his film “Raaz Reboot” that also stars southern film actress Kriti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora. Produced by Vishesh Films, the film will release on September 16.

Where do we impose our beliefs on them? You know, here non-Muslims can get special permits for alcohol production/comsumption as well--because we don't want to impose our views on them.

But in india, cows are banned. Now, even Camels are banned for Muslims.

Moreover, we don't have massive riots where thousands of hindus/christians are killed---while this has happened in india many many times (Gujrat incident?) Minor riots here and there are seldom in Pakistan, but nothing like india where Muslims are killed whole sale and are regularly beaten up on suspicion of consuming beef.

Also, our minorities have their own religious penal codes and they conduct their affairs as their religion permits. That is also the reason Sikh have their own marriage codes, unlike india where Sikhs are regarded as hindus.

Our minorities are in a much better position than Muslims of india.

rich muslims do have it pretty good here, rich and famous ones have it even better.

this also holds true for any minority (religious/ethnic etc) in any part of the world.

overall muslims are ok in India, it's a thriving community and things are ok, good even, compared to some of the insane terror or violence that goes on in parts of the middle east and AF/PAK etc.
