This is most basic indicator , of secular country ,with freedom of religion.. May that be India, US or countries in Europe, minority population flourishes as oppose to deeply communal ones, with their biased constitution and laws where minorities keep contracting and go extinct eventually.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion including you and me. Its better to be left with sociologists and demographics to explain the birthrate difference. I have read that on average Muslims have one more child than Hindus in India.

Excluding J&K, what percentage of the population do Muslims make up in Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala? I tried searching Wiki and some other sources but all are showing old figures from 2001 or 2004.

My province UP has the highest population of muslims. Almost 30 million or perhaps even more. Though only about 17% of the total they number almost the total population of Saudi Arabia. Just below that is west Bengal and Bihar. The worst violence between Hindu and Muslim usually occurs in Bihar these days and the state is very backward.

Indian occupied Kashmir actually has a population of only 7 million majority of whom are muslim. In Kerala the Muslim population is around 5%. They are also under recruited in the army (Madrasis and Tamils) along with muslims.
