The problem with Burkas is group pressure.
When you are wearing clothes as a uniform, you restrict the freedom of others.
In Nazi-Germany, the SA uniform was worn and used to intimidate others.

That resulted in a law banning the use of uniforms in Sweden after the war.
It is no longer in existence due to the conflict with personal freedom.

Once the Muslim countries stops requiring women to wear the veil/burka,
and Muslim men and women stop discriminating Muslim women not covering their faces,
then I see no problem in many cases.

In some cases, showing the face is absolutely neccessary.

An alternative to banning veils/burkas would be severe punishments on group pressure
or reinstating laws banning uniforms.

I understand and appreciate the cultural differences and the 'rights'. But if I have a guest in my house, I will not adjust to his/her wishes. Of course she can do what she pleases after shutting the door of the guest room, but in my presence, I would expect my rules to be followed. That's how the world functions.

Yaar, your house hasnt drafted any secular rules, your house does not hold up democratic rights, nor does it come with a set of rules - it comes with a dictator - most likely either mom or wife :p.

The choice is not personal in the first place,,,its due to religious taboos.

Now u can argue that its still the choice of woman but i will say that since they are indoctrinated from birth onwards on burquas they cannot make an informed consent in the first place thus majority end up in burqas.

So, doesn't that go for every single religion out there?

Some points which I liked.
