Abdul Kalam was a great man, one of the very few powerful persons in India who never tainted his hands with corruption. He was also the brain behind AGNI missile. He was accepted by the Tamil people as their leader beyond religions and many people who are following his ideologies. I feel they have kept all the books (Quran, Bhavathgita and Thirukkural) to let the public know that he is beyond religions (but it was projected wrong since the statue was opend by Modi). He has himself told in his interviews that he has been to temples in Rameshwaram to meet his friends. Yes many including me were very worried on his death, (To my Pakistani friends) this can be taken as a proof that we don't have hatred towards followers of Islam instead if someone is good and lived with a noble cause we celebrate them regards less the religion (at least in south India only where I have lived so far)

Dear Indian friend while i agree with your comment about his greatness and hard work and honesty I disagree with the proof part.

He was a scientist so first of all making him a mirasi in the first place by putting a musical instrument in his hand is tantamount to negating his the field of his experities due to which you respect him and give him applause secondly initially the Hindu hollybook was placed in front of the statue again another biased and one sided move but when some people protested then Muslim holly book and a Christian holly book was also placed there Now Hindu groups/people took strong offence to this move and filed a complaint against it with the authorities and forced them to remove Quran and Bible while Hindu Bhagwat Gita was left to remain there with the statue.

all in all it is a communal hate and biased filled statue of Dr. Kalam and insult to him

He did love playing the veena.

The book thing is a controversy that is par for the course in the current political and social dispensation of the country.
