UK reality TV star and former boxer Amir Khan has been trolled on Instagram over a post showing a Christmas tree he set up for his daughter.
Khan shared the post, writing that he'd put it up for three-year-old daughter Lamaisah, setting it up overnight so she'd wake up and see it.
"While everyone's asleep, daddy put the Christmas tree up. Lamaisah is going to be so happy," she said.

Since sharing the post just one day ago, Khan has been accused of betraying Islam and has even been threatened with death over his decision to set up the tree which is associated with Christmas, originally a Christian celebration to mark the birth of Jesus.
"You mut be dead and your family will be death i promise and allah must promise i and allah see you and check you your angel death came too see you," said mohammadalaidaengreza.
"As a fellow muslim, I'm appauld by seeing this," wrote nosheensheikh07. "A Christmas tree represents CELTIC PAGAN tradition. Are you a Pagan?! Putting up a Christmas tree means you accept pagan culture and it's not about 'JUST FUN'. It's SHIRK! Why are so called Muslims imitating the kuffar and adopting pagan traditions?! May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala GUIDE you brother because you're pleasing the kuffar and displeasing Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala."

And then many Muslims confessed to also following so-called "pagan" traditions, saying they didn't feel celebrating Christmas compromised their religion at all.
"This day is a pagan day from the three pagan ritual," wrote akhirahovenduycaa. "Your not getting the point he's Muslim not a Christian and we know that this day is a paganism and it goes against Islam. What aren't you understanding. No one is saying it isn't a pagan Christian day."
Fellow Muslim parents explained they feel it's important to participate in such traditions in order to teach their children "religious tolerance."

"It being a holiday season. As long as he teaches her that Muslim don’t celebrate Christmas and not take part in other traditions of Christmas. Also by putting a tree and some lights outside your house you can show appreciation and love to Christian neighbors and build religious tolerance."
