Muslim cop refuses to shave to get job back

They dont work for Govt :D :D :D
So what about all the Sadhus, Pundits, Gurus, Sikhs, etc who sport beards. India claims to be a democracy where faith can exist in peace however the court/government has totally disregarded this.

Dear member kindly read the OP before spewing your hate!

So it mean that Maharashtra State Reserve Police Force will never have a Sikh cop ??? or does it have ?

Do this law also apply to Sikh's? and what they do if this is the case?

I dont understand why its so hard to comprehend unless of course posters do not want to comprehend.

As far as keeping a beard is concerned, there is no comparison between a Sikh & a Muslim. A Sikh cannot shave or trim his hair while a Muslim can , he however may choose to . Its not mandatory for a Muslim to sport a beard. If it were even Jinnah would have kept one . Since he didnt & neither did/ does Ayub or NS it establishes what I am attempting to convey.

Instances like these do come where even Hindus seek permission not to shave for a defined period of time ( Like before a Pilgrimage to Sabrimala or any other shrine where they then go & shave their hair as a part of religious ritual).

Bedade had said in his petition, " ...a citizen is free to practice his religion and the commandant of Reserve Police Force cannot interfere or violate his fundamental right."

Its is a fundamental right to practice his religion but his religion does not mandate keeping a beard to be compulsory , here are pictures of a Qatari Sheikh & those carrying out pilgrimage . I dont think they are any less a Muslim than anyone else.

Yes sikhs are allowed to have beard ,if person of some other religion want to have beard they should convert to Sikhism first then have beard but its a combo deal they should have mustaches also with long head hairs ;)

Other wise no choice just resign and get the F out of govt jobs in India :)

Why only Sikhism?

Why only Sikhism?

Bcz its mandatory for a Sikh and not a Muslim to keep long hair and beard. Sikhs are also allowed to keep a small knife(kirpan) with them as prescribed in our religion.

.
Why he is resigning? He should seek transfer to state which allow beard..
That's really nonsense advice... So next day if in maharashtra govt will not allow azaan than transfer the mosque to pakistan?

i presume you are a Hindu? so if you are a non Muslim then itvis Not your fault that you do not know about the Muslim obligation about fulfilling the sunnah i.e keeping beard. yes it is mandatory now its another matter that many Muslims do not follow it but it does not mean that those Muslims who follow this obligation should be forced to shave just because many others are not following the basic rules.
As far as Sikhs are concerned it is a religious thing for them too so if they can't shave the beard as per Mahrashtra govt rule for police then just like Muslims there should be no place for these Sikhs in reserve police of the state as per Law

your hypocritical justification holds zero weight. it is obvious and clear that India is running discriminatory parallel rules for Muslims.

So what about all the Sadhus, Pundits, Gurus, Sikhs, etc who sport beards. India claims to be a democracy where faith can exist in peace however the court/government has totally disregarded this.
a bit tasteless but may be these non Muslims of India also support hair of all parts of their body may be thats why while Muslims as per Islamic rules are stressed upon otherwise.

Brother what you quote is not what is written in our books. Every practicing Muslim grow beard and Islam didn't presumed based on individual but what is written in Quran and Hadith.
Importance of the Beard in the words of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam):

  1. (1) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said "I have no connection with one who shaves, shouts and tears his clothing eg. in grief or affiliation."
    - Reported by Abu Darda (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 501

    (2) The teachings of Hadhrat Ammar Bin Yaasir, Abdullah Ibn Umar, Sayyidina Umar, Abu Hurairah and Jaabir (R.A.), indicate that ALL used to keep beards that were one fist length or more. Hadhrat Jaabir (R.A.) had said: "We used to grow long beards and only during Hajj and Umrah did we trim them to the required length (i.e. fist length)."

    (3) Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (R.A.) relates that: "He who imitates the kuffar (non-believers) and dies in that state, he will be raised up with them on the Day of Qiyamat (Judgement)."

    (4) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) says: "Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow)."
    - Narrated Ibn Umar (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 498

    (5) "Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ordered us to trim the moustache closely and spare the beard" says Ibn Umar.
    - Muslim, Hadith no. 449

    (6) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)said: "Act against contrary to the polythesists, trim closely the moustache and grow the beard."
    - Reported by Ibn Umar (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 500

    (7) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said "Trim closely the moustache and grow the beard."
    - Reported by Abu Hurairah (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 501

    (8) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "Anyone who shaves has no claim to the mercy of Allah"
    - Reported by Ibn Abbas (R.A.) in Tibrabi

    (9) Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (R.A.) used to cut that portion (which exceeds the grip of the hand) of the beard.
    - Tirmidhi
If you want to learn more about it then below is complete details

So i can say that your statement about Islam is not correct and not according to Islamic teaching and we are at same level in this case as every Sikh case of beard.

When muslims grow a beard they are not allowed to cut it,So that's why he might be uncomfortable.

I know lots of modern Sikhs who don't keep their heard and long hair, yet are still observing Sikhs and are regular at the gurdwara
