Opposition supports govt for Musharraf treason trial
ISLAMABAD - Following Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech in the National Assembly on Monday, the Opposition extended its support to the government for its decision to try former president Pervez Musharraf for treason under Article 6 of Constitution.

“Pervez Musharraf is accountable before the Constitution. Those who termed the Constitution mere a piece of paper should be rejected,” Leader of the Opposition Khurshid Shah said while addressing the house.

Shah demanded that even pictures of dictators should be removed for the Parliament House and other state buildings. “This is the first step we are taking for the future,” he said.

Following Shah’s speech, PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi addressed that house and assured his support to the ruling quarters. “Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf has always upheld the Constitution, we will therefore support the law and constitution for the continuity of democracy in Pakistan,” Qureshi affirmed. - See more at: Opposition supports govt for Musharraf treason trial | Pakistan Today | Latest news | Breaking news | Pakistan News | World news | Business | Sport and Multimedia

Achi baat hai court case karne se nahi darna chahiye Nawaz Sharif ko, whatever the result, it should be through a fair trial.

There will be no fair trial ... Because CJ is running sharif court ... They must be bias with Musharraf ...........

plus the whole NA who ratified his 2007 LFO and many of current NZ associates . As they say baat nikle gi to door tak jayegi NZ himself served as chief minister under zia in 85 so its gonna be a very complicated case as it will include kiyani as well thus involving army directly.

CJ also should be included as collaborator ..........

Arre bhai, that's the problem! Your army generals have arrogated to themselves the right to run Pakistan's foreign affairs, defence and security which should have been the prerogative of a democratically elected government. And that, my friend is the reason why Pakistan is where it is today!

Who is responsible for the deaths of 50,000 Pakistanis? Wrong policies by clueless generals starting with Major General Iskander Mirza, to Ayub and especially Haq to Mush! After all, their hobnobbing with the Yanks since the 50s for the moolah and so called 'security' against India by joining CENTO, SEATO etc and bending over backwards to American diktats to form an ani Soviet alliance in Afghanistan, and thus sacrificing an independent foreign policy has landed Pakistan up crap creek without a paddle! :P

Iskandar Mirza was retired from force ... Then he became President ... So he was countless here ... Secondly Pakistan's economy has been destroyed by those bas**rd democrats not army generals ... Alwayz Pakistan has developed during militry rule ... So-called democratic govts have sucked the blood ............

Government should focus on honeymoon period: Musharraf's lawyer
ISLAMABAD: Soon after the federal government decided to initiate a treason case against Pervez Musharraf, his lawyer Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri advised the government to focus on its 90 day ‘honeymoon period’ and the provisions that people were waiting for like electricity, jobs and security.

Kasuri was speaking outside the Supreme Court, after the hearing of a case against Musharraf.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during today’s National Assembly session, announced that the newly elected government will pursue a treason case against the former dictator.

Referring to the recent incidents that took place in Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi since the new government took charge, Kasuri said that the people want their problems fixed and that the federal government needed to get its priorities straight.
Criticising the written response submitted by the Attorney General (AG) of Pakistan, Musharraf’s lawyer equated it to “constitutional poetry.”

The federal government according to the AG’s statement wished to proceed according with the law and also take political forces in confidence through consultative process so the collective will and wisdom of the people of Pakistan is duly reflected in the process.

Musharraf could possibly face life in prison or the death penalty if he is convicted of treason. Many doubt that the army, previously the country’s most powerful institution, would allow Musharraf to be convicted.

I fear Pakistan Army might take over again! I was watching Hamid Mir on Geo News at about 11:30 Am IST and he was saying that Political leaders and Judges are being threatened by ISI. He further went on to say that the unknown callers informed them that Marshal Law will be applied by Army soon!

Hamid Mir is tout of NS & India too ... After again army take over he should be the first to be hanged ............
