KARACHI: Former President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf has said that a conspiracy has been hatched against the army based on the fact, “If you want to weaken Pakistan then weaken the army and this is what happening now.

In an interview to British Radio, General (retired) Pervez Musharraf said that he during his tenure had ordered the intelligence agencies to keep themselves aloof from politics and added we had decided that secret agencies must not indulge/interfere in politics.

Responding to a question relating to the registration of cases and investigations against the army, he said that a conspiracy was being hatched against the army based on the fact that if you want to weaken Pakistan then weaken the army and this is what happening now.

Musharraf said US drone strikes mostly killed terrorists in tribal areas adding some from the general public also fallen victim to it, but their number was being exaggerated. He re-iterated that he had no written or verbal agreement with the US regarding the drone strikes and he had been lodging protests on these attacks with US President Bush.

He said that opening the old cases was not a good thing and advised forget the past to keep focusing on the present and the future.

This national security mindset has done wonders for Pakistan in the last 60 years and I am sure we are only few steps short of turning into another north korea..army is employed by the state for security and is answerable to state. These goons should learn a lesson from the story of General Stanley Mc Chrystal

Gen. Musharraf is right & he understands Pakistan like no other. Haters can go to hell.

All these generals of Pakistan are above law. Musharraf is the prime example. So when a court names two retired generals, who no doubt must be investigated, all these generals and military come to their rescue as if Pakistan laws dont apply to them.

when it comes down to two generals "maybe" being tried with accordance to the law (as civilians), yet oh my its a conspiracy against Pakistan

P.S. even the godfather hamid gul ko bari mirchain lag rahi hain, hai tou wohi kuttay ki dum teri ki teri wali baat !!

P.S. apna interest hai tou sab aik ho gaye hain...

You civilian cant imagine talking to a general. Just talk to some very junior officer and he will have such an air of arrogance around him that he will cut you down. They think they are some different creation.

I fully support Supreme Court in this judgement. If Pakistan has to move forward, all powerful and arrogant sectors of Pakistan society must be brought under law or forced under the law. But only a credible civilian set up can do such a thing.

What should happen doesn't mean it will be allowed to happen.

Ha Ha a retired general who is already facing cases in the courts is saying that. Who created NRO, who created PML-Q....... this is great. I'm not surprised.

.
Suspended constitution twice, suspended Supreme Court twice, all done in 'national interest' of course. And then he forced himself to be elected in the uniform. All steps illegal and no army chief has the power to do that.

Yet he was given a guard of honor and safely sent to London. This is what our army does to the civilians and claims itself above all law.

.
Do we get to see another coup now that a conspiracy is brought to light :pop:
