Musharraf quit Pak presidency on my prodding: Bush
Wednesday 17th November, 2010 (ANI)

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf stepped down from his post because the then US President George W Bush asked him to do so, the latter has revealed in his book "Decision Points".

On page 217 of his book, Bush wrote that he had asked Musharraf in late 2007 to quit his job, restore the sacked judges and lift the emergency in Pakistan, The News reported.

"Musharraf promised to do all three things and he kept his commitment," Bush added in his memoir.

This is the first time that it has been disclosed why Musharraf resigned and left the country. He had lost the confidence of the US leaders and when they told him to quit, he could not resist, the paper said. (ANI)

Bush was not the only one and only state.
If people recall Pakistan was even ousted from common wealth because west wanted Musharraf out.
Europe had slamed partial sanctions and US was in the process of mulling same.

If it was not the long march and media on-slaught, Musharraf may have not resigned.

Petrol choor iftikhar ch. became the king pin in regime change.

We may never know the full truth, its his book, he can write in it what he wishes...........

I doubt he would have added anything about his War Crimes, or the genocide of millions of Iraqis and Afghans and others in his book. Therefore that should tell us all something about his nature, character and his honesty........

We sit here debating about brotherhood, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Jews and many others......

I normally sit and think about groups like AQ, Taliban, BJP, VHP, KKK, and no matter how much these groups try and show themselves as the best example of brotherhood around the world, Politicians top the list in this field.......No matter where they are, how they are, they are all on par when it comes to dishonesty, lies, murder, corruption, War to mention the few.....a true brotherhood by any example............bunch of @ankers

Democracy can curb this to some extent but .. for democracy to be effective .... the population has to be intelligent and needs to be aware of the environment ... instead of being biased on cast/religion and local issues...

How can you take a guy seriously, when he has spent his entire presidency acting like a buffoon and then gone onto have his book ghost-written and filled with hundreds of un attributed quotations and articles from other authors?

BBC News - Pakistani journalist upset by George Bush 'plagiarism'

Just saying... ;)

Paladin you posted what i wanted to say.

And above all this idiot bush is just getting credit for the struggle of Pakistani media and public (from all walks of life) with regard to restore judges and lifting emergency which also led to ousting of Musharraf.

i guess after eid we might have a round of heated debates from lawyers, political parties Ngos here against statement of Bush :P

.
Yesterday, Holbroke announced that Musharraf is not popular and today Bush is trying to pull his leg.
Pakistan elections are on Horizon and foreign meddling has started already.
