Musharraf to visit Saudi on Tuesday (tomorrow)

RIYADH, Nov 19, 2007 (AFP) - Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will visit Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for talks with King Abdullah, the official SPA news agency reported on Monday.
Musharraf's trip to Saudi Arabia, the exile home of former Pakistani prime minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif, will be his first abroad since he imposed a state of emergency in Pakistan on November 3.

"He will be going for a bilateral trip to discuss economic cooperation and security isues. No meeting with Sharif is on the agenda," a senior Pakistani government official said.

The announcement came after Pakistan's top court dismissed five of six challenges to Musharraf's re-election as president, edging him closer to a victory that could help end the country's political crisis.

Musharraf and Abdullah will discuss "ways of boosting bilateral relations" as well as "regional and international issues of common concern," SPA said, adding that the Pakistani leader will also perform the umrah, or smaller Muslim pilgrimage, in Mecca.

Musharraf, who is a close US ally in the "war on terror" but is under international pressure to end emergency rule, has close ties with oil powerhouse Saudi Arabia.

He has said he will quit as army chief and become a civilian ruler once Pakistan's Supreme Court has fully validated his victory in a presidential election last month.

Sharif was deported to Saudi Arabia, where he had lived for several years, when he tried to return to Pakistan in September, vowing to ignite a popular campaign to oust Musharraf.

The two-time premier was ousted by Musharraf in a bloodless 1999 coup. He was sentenced to life in prison for tax evasion and treason but was released in December 2000 on condition that he and his family live in exile in Saudi Arabia for 10 years.

But Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled in August that they could fly back home. AFP

Bingo

My sources were right yesterday we had a news from clsoe circles that Shujaat had asked Musharraf to talk to Nawaz Sharif for possible counter to BB in elections ;)

. .
PML Q is still much more closer to PML N then PPP. They prefer to have N then PPP. Sound like dead end for Bibi. Now few weeks left in election. Now "LotaCracy" is on it peak

.
Whatever NS,s past, one thing is clear in the present crisis that he has not crossed the limits to grab the power unlike BB. So this is his leverage which can pop him on the political scene and can get acceptance from military as well as from the people of Pakistan, keeping in view the band of our remaining leaders.

. .
is there any way to squeeze bibi out of this country just like nawaz?
there is and was no point of bringing her at first place everyone knows her shrudenessa and mushy must hav had a good idea of her future steps. I m sure he must have something good in his mind to counter bibi.

other day mushy said she is absolute on collision course with govt. and with this i personally got an idea that mushy was well prepared for it!

.
I need some one to advise me on to this perspective of mushy meeting with Nawaz, why Shujaat at the first place would advise mushy of meeting with Nawaz?

If so even if he meets with Nawaz, what sort of deal they could come up with?

If there is a way of countering bibi other then utillizing nawaz against her in elections?

Yea, am not sure of one thing if amendement for becoming PM for third tenure has been amended or not?

.
i dont belive the news about the, posiblity of mushraf meeting with nawazsharif, but 1 thing shouldbe clear , which is NAWAZ SHARIF was never been a security risk on the core ISSUE of our nueclar ability.

he can be trusted on nueclar, issue, but cantbe, trusted on money matters.

but he is far better choice thn BB, but there should a change in our political leadership.

BB and NAWAZ, both were given to many chances.

but, still cant get any new faces, even our assemlies got thier timeframe complited frist time in our history.

which is a very important, and one of major achivement of musharf govt.
even he is, doing good now , but at least musharf made himself a power which can provide gurrante for our crazy political system.

there are issues for which i dont like musharf, but in reality , he also did many, things which cant be done in the past.

As Niaz sahib mentioned a few days ago - the army will always prefer "rightist parties". The only liberal party we really have is the PPP, and considering the concessions their leader has been blabbing about, the military may well prefer to pull NS out of exile than do a deal with someone considered a national security risk.

Because BB Is using Nawaz as back up plane in case whenever she feels Musharraf will back off from the deal and we all had seen this that in that case BB had once again started calling up Nawaz Sharif and in that case both BB and NS calls for ousting Musharraf. Which in trun is more difficult to handle.

Besides after BB got assurence from US and also UK and EU riased voice only for her in presenc of such strong international lobby, PML(Q) has no chance to have its PM elected or even make government despite it has a strong vote bank.
Hence the best way is to unite all factions of PML and trust me once if all these get united than even US pressure wont stop them from wining.

Well it would be win win situation for both Nawaz and PML(Q) and Musharraf too.
as in case BB comes to power with US backing, Nawaz has no chance to even enter into politics before the installation of New Government in Islamabad. So if they make a deal atleast he can come to Pakistan and take part in elections even if he wont become a PM, he would have a great chance to stire the situation.

Yea, am not sure of one thing if amendement for becoming PM for third tenure has been amended or not?

Well first of all any party that wished to amend it would have to win the majority vote and after coming into parliament, it would have to amend the constitution with One Third Majority for making BB or NS as PM for third time.

So it means that whose' ever government it is if BB's party wins, the party would take power with someone else from her party as PM till the party amend the constitution to make BB as PM same goes for NS
:enjoy:

now you can imagine how will BB or NS feel with someone else from her/his party as PM till the time the amendment is made :D

chudry. perviaz elahi is future pospect, and couldbe, a favourite to become next PM.
While IMRAN KHAN, could become leader of opposition, if he can, get rid of his unneccesary and sometimes unlogical attitude towards politics.
plz, see wht happend to him, PUNJAB univercity , he was acting like an allrounder in CRICKET, the jammat islami, played with him, 1day game, and took him out of stadium.

he have to produce his own version of politics, so that, people of pakistan, can think about him as next leader who can think, wisely and can solve the problems of the common people.

hope we will, get some leaders for our future who can lead the country with, determination, selfbelfe ,patiotism and truth???????

I concur.

In light of this opinion piece, PML-Musharraf links may make even more sense:

Thanks heaps for your reply. Gr8 detail in deed!!

What i extract right now is that the amendment has not yet been made by mushy?and it will put both NS and BB in trouble for this amendment even if they come in power:yahoo: am sorry am just bit week in consitutional understandings....

thanks alot once again!!!!

.
this seems stupid but i think musharraf should talk to Imran Khan i think if they both can come to a compromise then it would be an amazing government for our country. i really dont think that Musharraf should talk to nawaz i dont think he has that much of a following in pakistan. i mean his party could not muster any people to greet him at the airport when he was coming back to pakistan.
