Musharraf claims he forgave Sharif brothers, who had 'begged' him to let them go
Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has revealed in an interview that the Sharif brothers had 'begged' him to let them go.
In a Pakistani TV interview, Musharraf disclosed that he forgave Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, and let them go at the behest of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, The Nation reported.
The former military ruler stated that he did not believe in the politics of vendetta.
He had no personal enmity against the Sharif brothers, and even though they had made a big mistake when his plane was about to crash, he still 'forgave and forgot' the episode, Musharraf claimed.
Earlier this week, Musharraf had called former Prime Minister Nawaz 'brainless,' and the PML-N a family party, and in another interview given to der Spiegel, the APML founder noted that unfortunately, a culture of vendetta and vindictiveness prevailed in Pakistani politics.
"My political opponents, especially Nawaz Sharif, would love to create a case against me- that I am corrupt or have committed fraud or some such. They do their best to achieve that, but they haven't succeeded. Even if they did, I would reply in court. Risks need to be taken," he added. (ANI)
