Only if you could think beyond yourself. Indians and Pakistanis like you are few and far in between. Most have no way of communicating via such means (I-Foras). The fact that you live in the US means that you are even farther away from the ground than the Indians and Pakistanis who live next to each other. You may want to think about them as they would be the ones dealing with each other, not you sitting in the comfort of the good old US of A.

You're making pretty hypocritical statements, it's easy to talk about closing borders when you're living in the U.S. I assume.
Besides, you talk as if you don't want anything to do with Pakistanis, so it would make sense if you "dissociate" yourself from us, and guess what, you can begin right here, or do you still feel the need to express your biased views with the ones you want to "dissociate" from so badly?

Bhishma, I've to agree with ur point, however internet is a powerful medium but no substitute for seeing a real person, its just not the same.

Even with the internet / communication explosion, business travel has only increased over the years.

Secondly, internet will expose one to ALL KINDS of BS too, but when in India, u'll FACE real India or Pakistan when in pakistan.

I know not ONE person here will believe this after reading my other posts, but i've a soft corner for ppl of pakistan

The difference on the Pakistan side is that most of the population is indifferent to India and Indians. With or without Indians, life for Pakistanis goes on.

We have lived without much interaction with Indians for the past 60+ years, it makes absolutely no difference to us if the other side wants to make that another 60 years.

So lets not waste any further bandwidth on this forum trying to show off your "I could care less" attitude. Does not change a thing for us.

I\'m sorry, but the love of bollywood movies on your side says the opposite. Pakistanis have been steeped in Indian movies, music and culture for the last 60 years, however, very little has come from your side of the border.

Also, in a rather weird parallel, jehadi organizations have been recruiting Pakistani youth to fight for the so-called Kashmiri cause for a couple of decades now.

So its a love-hate relationship.

in India however, once you leave the Punjab and certain parts of Northern India which share family and cultural ties with Pakistan, especially in Maharshtra and below, nobody really cares about Pakistan. They have not been directly involved in any conflict with pakistan (except for the terrrorist attacks) and they have no linguistic affinities with them either.

I've not said 'simply open the borders'. I said make travel easier. Just to put it right.

I\'m not in favour of that either. If recent news reports are to be believed, Jehadis are regularly criss-crossing Indian territory forming alliances from Assam to Kerala. We don\'t need to make their job any easier.

Let them deal with the Jehadi problem, get some control over their territory, and guarantee that islamist ideologues won\'t be spreading their poison on this side of the border. Then perhaps we can talk about cultural exchanges.

We can't control what goes on in IoK. India should be taking responsibility for her own IS. If this requires closing down the border crossings and other measures such as stopping the travellers, please lobby your government duly. Its well within your rights.
