Munir Akram to replace Maleeha Lodhi as Pakistan's envoy to UN

She was at this post for such a long time because she knows the right people in Islamabad. No doubt she will find another cozy assignment. People like her never leave voluntarily.

That problem been pointed out by few journalist lately ... In my judgement , she doesn't deserve this post. Pakistan has lots of talented diplomats ....but been eaten away by mammoth DMG crook class.

i think IK in UN found out she was soft and was not doing aggressive diplomacy so she was replaced.

Maleeha Lodhi was made a scapegoat for Pakistan's underwhelming performance at UN. It's not really her fault. Plus, she was a holdover from the previous regime. The decision was an easy one. Whether Munir Akram can do any better is anybody's guess.

Add to that, her son is married to an Indian girl. hence, untrusted by the GoP? But then she was appointed in 2015, after the marriage. Cannot say. But definitely, this could be a negative for her.

That should have been an automatic case for disqualification. This is conflict of interest. I wonder , why was she not fired in 2015 when this happened....

I have watched some debates or discussions between Pakistani and afghan diplomats. (anyone interested can search YouTube). My God how embarrassed I was at the incompetence of our foreign office personnel. Our people don't know how to talk without apologizing. No fire or desire to fight back, utterly lacking any pride in your nation. Someone needs to give them lessons on verbal combat. They need to improve greatly. They are our first line of defense, much neglected and frowned upon but still a vital component of our state craft

Lodhi did a good job on a BBC report about Kashmir though.

  India blasted Pakistan Monday for using an image of a Gazan girl at the United Nations to illustrate Indian violence in Kashmir, saying the move promoted a “completely false narrative.”
  
  Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi held up the photo on Saturday, claiming that it showed a Kashmiri teenage girl whose face bore the marks of Indian pellet gun wounds. “This is the face of Indian democracy,” she said as she held up the picture.

She made a call to 911 saying she was beaten however when police arrived she retracted saying he held her by arm and she fell to the ground..lol... dude Maleeha got lured by a press minister name Saeed Anwar..you cant really do much about this..just dont keep the secrets in bedside table..
