What's new

Munawar Faruqui is not being bullied for his jokes, but for his faith

Apparently he was making jokes about burning of Hindus in Godhra train burning incident linking it to the movie Burning Train produced by RSS and directed by Amit Shah blah blah. Complainant also stated he mocked Hindu Gods and Goddesses used profanity in the same line along with names of Hindu Deities purposely. He is a serial offender cases have been filed against him in the past for these types of nonsense. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what is/may be offensive and inappropriate. These lowlifes do it purposely and the last time it backfired. Again whey these type of stand-ups don't crack jokes about their own religion or prophets or Gods?
How do you assume his jokes caused no religious offense to any Muslim? That is not a legal and valid reasoning. Watch the video clip in Xeuss post # 48. At 2:15 it says the police have stated there was nothing anti Hindu in his jokes. Watch the video till the end. His charge sheet isn't specific. His Hindu comedian partner was shut down too.

Well I haven't seen him cracking jokes on his own religion, if you have a video then please post and if muslims do get offended then they are also free to take legal action against him. It's not for the police to decide, it's for the courts to decide. The fact that he was denied bailed by the high court itself is a testimony that prima facie case was established. As you stated his Hindu comedian partner and organizers were also arrested proves that it has nothing to do with his religion. Even Kunal Kamra has been pulled to the police station where he apologized etc.

. . .
Yeah please also don't blame the rioter who killed Ehsan Jafri and family, it was actually the kerosene and the knives it his kitchen which were responsible

Why are you bringing in Ehsan Jafri at this point ? Explain from the start.

Nothing specific where exactly he insulted Hindu gods? The High court should state it so the whole world is clear on it.

Was he really insulting Hindu gods or was he mocking BJP? His accuser was the son of a BJP politician.

I couldn't care less about his jokes. I hadn't even heard of him. From what I read he is offensive to Muslim sensibilities too, but that is the point of political satire.

.

 So he saying something about his conservative family and mocking Hindu Deities is one and the same now? Where is the @#%^&b and name of his God or Prophet in one line or joke about killing of Ehsan Jafri and family

Where did Kamra apologize ?

Why are you bringing in Ehsan Jarfi at this point ? Explain from the start.

Well you are blaming Kar Sevaks for getting burned because maybe somebody carried oil or whatever, no mistake of the mob who set the coach on fire. Same logic!

This is not the first time a case has been registered against him and not in one state, as I said earlier he is a serial offender, Time and again he has done this nonsense of insulting Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Let the courts decide was he really doing this or that, it's not for you and me to decide. Muslim sensibilities  if he would have said something similar for muslim personalities he would be in a grave by now.

1. Would it have been better for you if instead of the Muslim Munawar it would have been a Dalit making jokes about his 3000-year-old oppression by the Brahminical caste system ?

2. I consider only Nature as the most supreme but what kind of jokes would you have liked Munawar to make about the simplifying Islamic concept of The One God who is formless and doesn't have spousal association ? What kind of jokes would you have liked Munawar to make about the Communist and Socialist spirit of the ideology of Islam that Prophet Muhammad brought ? I quote from my thread from 2016 whose OP is by the Pakistani journalist Nadeem Paracha and is about leftist activism by Muslims since the early 1900s :
During the same period (1920s-30s), another (though lesser known) Islamic scholar in undivided India got smitten by the 1917 Russian revolution and Marxism.

Hafiz Rahman Sihwarwl saw Islam and Marxism sharing five elements in common: (1) prohibition of the accumulation of wealth in the hands of the privileged classes (2) organisation of the economic structure of the state to ensure social welfare (3) equality of opportunity for all human beings (4) priority of collective social interest over individual privilege and (5) prevention of the permanentising of class structure through social revolution.

The motivations for many of these themes he drew from the Qur’an, which he understood as seeking to create an economic order in which the rich pay excessive, though voluntary taxes (Zakat) to minimise differences in living standards.

In the areas that Sihwarwl saw Islam and communism diverge were Islam’s sanction of private ownership within certain limits, and in its refusal to recognise an absolutely classless basis of society.

He suggested that Islam, with its prohibition of the accumulation of wealth, is able to control the class structure through equality of opportunity.

Basically, both Sindhi and Sihwarwl had stumbled upon an Islamic concept of the social democratic welfare state.

Building upon the initial thoughts of Sindhi and Sihwarwl were perhaps South Asia’s two most ardent and articulate supporters and theoreticians of Islamic Socilaism: Ghulam Ahmed Parvez and Dr. Khalifa Abdul Hakim.

Parvez was a prominent ‘Quranist’, or an Islamic scholar who insisted that for the Muslims to make progress in the modern world, Islamic thought and laws should be entirely based on the modern interpretations of the Qu’ran and on the complete rejection of the hadith (sayings of the Prophet and his companions based on hearsay and compiled over a 100 years after the Prophet’s demise).

After studying traditional Muslim texts, as well as Sufism, Parvez claimed that almost all hadiths were fabrications by those who wanted Islam to seem like an intolerant faith and by ancient Muslim kings who used these hadiths to give divine legitimacy to their tyrannical rules.

Parvez also insisted that Muslims should spend more time studying the modern sciences instead of wasting their energies on fighting out ancient sectarian conflicts or ignoring the true egalitarian and enlightening spirit of the Qu’ran by indulging in multiple rituals handed down to them by ancient ulema, clerics and compilers of the hadith.

Understandably, Parvez was right away attacked by conservative Islamic scholars and political outfits.

But this didn’t stop famous Muslim philosopher and poet, Muhammad Iqbal, to befriend the young scholar and then introduce him to the future founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Jinnah appointed Parvez to edit a magazine, Talu-e-Islam. It was set-up to propagate the creation of a separate Muslim country and to also answer the attacks that Jinnah’s All India Muslim League had begun to face from conservative Islamic parties and ulemawho accused the League of being a pseudo-Muslim organisation and Jinnah for being too westernised and ‘lacking correct Islamic behavior.’

Apart from continuing to author books and commentaries on the Qu’ran, Parvez wrote a series of articles in Talu-e-Islam that propagated a more socialistic view of the holy book.

In a series of essays for the magazine he used verses from the Qu’ran, incidents from the faith’s history and insights from the writings of Muhammad Iqbal to claim:

The clergy and conservative ulema have hijacked Islam.

They are agents of the rich people and promoters of uncontrolled Capitalism.

Socialism best enforces Qur’anic dictums on property, justice and distribution of wealth.

Islam’s main mission was the eradication of all injustices and cruelties from society. It was a socio-economic movement, and the Prophet was a leader seeking to put an end to the capitalist exploitation of the Quraysh merchants and the corrupt bureaucracy of Byzantium and Persia.

According to the Qur’an, Muslims have three main responsibilities: seeing, hearing and sensing through the agency of the mind. Consequently, real knowledge is based on empirically verifiable observation, or through the role of science.

Poverty is the punishment of God and deserved by those who ignore science.

In Muslim/Islamic societies, science, as well as agrarian reform should play leading roles in developing an industrialised economy.

A socialist path is a correction of the medieval distortion of Islam through Shari’a.
So what kind of jokes ? You tell me.

The vid is from 2018 but you are making it as if he apologized yesterday. And since 2018 Kamra may have desisted making jokes about Hindu religious figures ( if he had been making before ) but has been quite the critic of the Hindutvadis. In 2020 he interviewed that Hindutvadi motormouth Tejasvi Surya who has become notorious internationally.

Well you are blaming Kar Sevaks for getting burned because maybe somebody carried oil or whatever, no mistake of the mob who set the coach on fire. Same logic!

The mob may have been there but scientific investigation years ago has proved that the fanatic kar sevaks were the ones responsible for the burning of the train. Your equating their unfortunate foolishness to the lynching of Ehsan Jafri is non-sensible.

Again you are making "points" by saying Muslims would have done worse to him. It is not a valid argument and actually reveals your prejudice. The fact is there is no high court guideline on where he crossed the line. Its all subjective. So the charge and conviction seem highly politically motivated.

Me being Hindu will think twice before belittling or mocking somebody else's religion or beliefs. I can always though joke about myself, my religion or my belief. Here its completely different story they stay mum on their own belief or religion but crack jokes about somebody else's. There are dime a dozen santa banta jokes cracked but mocking Sikhism or their Gurus or their God is plain evil and will and should invite wrath of the Sikh community and law as well.

You are free to consider whatever you want to consider. Bhai you are on internet use Google you will find millions of jokes on muslims and Islam.

Did I say he apologized yesterday? Look at their faces though, good if he has desisted or else a month in jail for him also would have been his own doing.

Scientific investigation, what where did the said study get printed in some science journal   I hope you know 31 people have been found guilty and 'convicted' by the courts. So, they are innocent?

I am making no point just stating a fact, You conveniently ignore facts 1. This fellow is serial offender, he has done same nonsense in the past and cases have been filed against him in the past as well 2. The courts denied him bail making a case that prima facie case and evidence against him exists 3. The door of FOE swings both ways, the person who made complaint also has rights which he exercised

Your argument is, he doesn't cause religious offense to Muslims. This means you would be okay with him insulting Hindu gods, if he insulted Muslim religious figures. You don't have any belief. Also, your threshold to feel insulted may be very low so you should be specific on what constitutes insult. Give an example of his insult with video link.

.
Common dude you know ,he will have no chance in Pakistan or for that matter even in India if he makes jokes on Islam.

And some complain his show is.cancelled.
He should shut the mouth all the people who claim he only makes joke of Hindu religion by makes couple of jokes on Islam.

We have also heard people asking why Faruqui can’t mock Islam or its sacred figures. As if only by doing so, would he qualify to practice humour. Well-meaning people fall

The problem with the bold part not the well meaning people fall for it but some people want others to believe it's the fault of others and not of the person who hurts the feelings of others ,it's always the other person's fault.

The article is stating that he didn't mock Hinduism, but is being falsely being accused of doing so.

Of course not, I am pointing at the agenda of these bunch of lowlifes; mock and insult Hinduism in garb of FOE. Why insult somebodies beliefs be it a Hindu or a Muslim? I have seen people defend MF Hussain for painting objectional paintings of HIndu Goddesses and in the same breath curse charlie hebdo and prophet's cartoons and how it is so wrong what they have done. Why this double standards and hypocrisy? Well as he has made jokes about Hindus/Hindu Gods why not about Muslims/Muslim Gods? The fact that he doesn't itself shows his intentions and doings. About his content I have pasted in the previous replies and the fact that he was denied bail was itself a testimony that the complain and case had substance.
