MUMBAI: The 23-year-old student of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), who was allegedly gangraped by her six companions, said
that she tried to lodge a complaint the very next day of the incident but could not do so due to police's non-cooperation.
The victim, a US national who was gangraped on April 11, had on the next day gone to the Rajawadi hospital in suburban Ghatkopar to undergo medical tests.
"I was medically examined by a doctor there who then referred me to some police in the hospital. However the police did not help me out. I waited at the hospital for a long time but
no police officer was ready to guide me," the victim said in her statement to the police.
The victim further states that she was traumatised by the incident and thus refused to approach the police again.
"After speaking to my mother and friends, I felt supported and comfortable to come to the police station and register a complaint," the victim said.
The victim, who hails from Idaho in United States, had come to India in October 2008 and is pursuing a course in Gender and Development at TISS.
On April 11, she was gangraped by six men with whom she had gone to a night club in suburban Deonar and Andheri.
While three of the accused have been arrested, the remaining three are still absconding. The six accused are -
Vinamra Soni, Karan Singh, Harsh, Anish, Devshi and Kundan.
The victim was allegedly gangraped at Kundan's residence in suburban Andheri where she was taken by the accused to rest.

My Saying...
The report shows Hindu Brahmin racism is rising. Most of the rapists are Hindu Brahmins and that is why Indian Police officers did not help the poor American girl.
