Are there any sunnis left in iran?

Off topic fun fact, iran used to be sunni majority and was converted forcefully to shia by safavids in a span of 250 years.

Whole of Baluchistan is Sunni.

Their Azeri I think are also hardcore Sunni.

This is very disappointing.

People should not follows religious leaders as most have next to no education and are in these positions for power.

Have you ever heard a sheikh a mullah a peer or even an imam say forget the sectarian path and let's just do what prophet Muhammed pbuh did as per quaran and hadith.
If there is anything that contradicts quran and hadith then let's leave that.

Wonder why

Before Iran became Shia and the defacto second pole of the Muslim world, which part of the Muslim world, which people were predominantly Shia?

I understand from my Shia friends that their holy places are all in Iraq, not Iran. Iran is the spiritual leader though. Fountainhead.

Shia islam turned a sect much much later.
Initially there was only islam and muslims. The rift was political and men who were power hungry committed atrocities against our beloved prophets family. Imam hassan and iman Hussain may Allah be pleased with them. After that slowly but surely the fitna started and now sadly all kinds of bad things happen.
On the positive side if you go the Gilgit and I have Shia friends there. By Allah I have not seen them do anything Sunnis dont. In his home they pray the read the Quran and they are shocked when they see some of the things shias in iran and other parts of Pakistan do. They even love the Sahaba and our mother Aaisha RA. This is not normal for some Shia sects.

Azeri Turks are Shias, both in Azerbaijan and South Azerbaijan (Iran.)

Lebanon was the center of Shia Islam, where Turkic leader Ismail of Safavi dynasty imported their scholars and converted Iran by force to Shia islam, partly to distance himself from Turkic Osmani dynasty rivals of Turkey.

Once upon a time, Egypt had also become Ismaili Shia during Fatimi dynasty. They cooperated with Crusaders and earned Salahuddin's anger, who marched into Egypt and hence it has remained Sunni since.

Same for Central Punjab. We used to celebrate Shia holidays with them. On Ashura, we sat with them. I really enjoyed their parades as a youth, esp Zuljannah (a decorated horse.)
