AMMAN: Renowned religious scholar from Pakistan Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani has been named on top of a list of 500 most influential Muslims in the world.

The list was published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, an independent research entity affiliated with the Royal Aal al Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, Jordan.

Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel and religious preacher Maulana Nazur Rehman are the other three Pakistanis featured in the top 50 of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world.

Mufti Taqi Usmani, who tops the list is a leadingscholar of Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic finance. He is considered to be the founder of Islamic banking in Pakistan.

what about Academics ? Doctors ? PH.D ? researchers ? engineers ? Scientists ? Politicians ?

Influential, sir.

What influence do you think scientists and researchers would've in a country like Pakistan.

Just the other day, a girls' school in Mardan distributed (Afghan-styled) Burkhas to the students to wear at school. Like, every other country is wanting to improve their education system, but Pakistan is like: "what if we send tents to school, lmao."

Only religious leaders, I would have liked to see Maulana Tariq Jameel 1st in that list nonetheless though.

useless space filling crap from the jang group as usual. I've yet to meet any nonindo Pakistani scholar in america who even knows his name...

Before many starts to grieve due to a non issue, at least try to understand the meaning of Mufti Taqi Usmani most influential Muslim personality in world.

the Muslim World is quoted most probably due to the teachings & education by specific person for Islam. It is not a competition in regard to scientists or doctors or engineers or anyone else.

I would have liked to see Maulana Tariq Jameel 1st in that list nonetheless though.

Maulana Tariq Jameel is not a Mufti. Try to read the credentials of respective persons in different subjects. Mufti Taqi Usmani, who tops the list is a leading scholar of Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic finance. He is considered to be the founder of Islamic banking in Pakistan.

There is difference between most popular & most influential as the latter is based upon credentials.

Is this shaykh the one who the Iranians target killers tried to kill?

Influential, sir.

Would you call the mothers of believers or the women of the sahaba "tent" women too? Your usage of language is very similar to that of islam haters in the west, that's not a good thing to have a similarity in.

Maybe khamenei wanted top spot on this list. Poor guy has to settle for 2nd.

Would Tariq Jameel want to improve the education system of Pakistan by asking women to wear skirts or co-education?

Sick mentality - What has wearing burkas to do with education?

By the way, i was amazed to see how a religious leader has been on top of the list where all others are state heads. What are the variables used to measure the influence if i may ask.

Wear whatever you want, not saying they should wear skirts, lol. Wear national dress, wear hijab, wear a burkha, I don't care.

But what sense is there in the school giving all the girls Afghan-styled Burkhas, have you seen these? They look like freaking tents or ghosts roaming around.

Part of education is teaching ideals. What kind of message is that sending. Everyone here wants Pakistani and social ideals to be properly taught... Until it's something like this, in which case they say nothing.

You sound similar to Taliban terrorists.
Now you judge, who is sounding worse.

Ek kaam karo, make Burkha compulsory and be done with this crap.

Yes bro, defending the veil now means that a person is terrorist. Next in your mind defending the Qur'an will also be similar to taliban terrorists.

Nothing wrong with women who wear niqab or burkha etc... There's evidence for such covering in Islamic texts.

Now that's a tragedy.

You really want the Taliban to be the epitome of Islamic values ??

Incorrect.

First of all fu*k Bashar ul Asad

He is a mass murderer just like your modi

Secondly yes I am in favor of this mufti

He is one of the top scholars

1 who opposed al qaeda's sheikh Isa's fatwa of jihad against Pakistani state

2 he also supported Pakistani state against TTP

3 he also opposed ghazi brothers of lal masjid and even denounced them when they refused to stop their violent activities after negotiating with him

Okay, thanks for that info. I didn't know.

Then he deserves to be in that list.

He's not.

That he is, is just a media-led perception created by NATO and allied government.

Just look at al Assad and his wife. Do they sound like mass murderers ?? If they were then Russia and the Syrians themselves wouldn't support them.
