âMQM not joining federal govtâ
KARACHI - MQM will not join the government at the Centre and play its positive role in the national interest for strengthening democracy, said MQM Coordination Committee member Ameen-ul-Haq on Saturday.
While talking to The Nation, he rejected views of political observers over MQMs joining the government at the Centre. He added the PML-N delegation visited Nine Zero to thank MQM and its leadership for their unconditional support in the presidential election while the current situation of the country also came under discussion in a good atmosphere. Nothing was offered or demanded by any of the parties while the unconditional support indicates the partys strategy that it will negotiate with all the political segments for the continuity of democratic process in the country.
However, political analysts, terming the visit of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation, led by Finance Minster Ishaq Dar, along with the ruling party candidate for the presidential election, Mamnoon Hussain, to Nine Zero an achievement of MQM, speculated that it might be an initial move of MQM`s joining the government at the Centre.
The analysts were of the view that though no demands by both the parties had been publicised and MQM had announced its unconditional support for the PML-N candidate, the past record of the MQM indicates give and take.
Meanwhile, the ruling partys visit to the MQMs headquarters has upset its allies in sindh, including PML-F, PML-Q and NPP. The sources added PML-N Sindh leadership was of the view that PML-N delegation should not have visited Nine Zero as the MQM support had become irrelevant after the boycott of PPP.
