MQM female MPA announces resignation after Altaf Hussain speech
KARACHI: Irum Azeem Farooque, a female member of Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), announced her resignation following Altaf Hussain’s speech that led to attacks on media offices in Karachi.
In a statement on Twitter, Irum said she felt embarrassed to watch the videos of MQM workers ransacking ARY News office and clashing with police.
“Today I resign. Already did it two days ago but didn’t disclose Bec (because) of the Hunger strike. After watching the videos, I feel very embarrassed,” she wrote on Twitter.

“#Pakistan Zindabad. I condemn those who call it Murdabad,” she added.
“Party workers must refrain from taking law in their hands. This is not a solution. Please No Violence,”
“I m shocked and utterly disappointed. Condemn the Attack on @ARYNEWSOFFICIAL offices. No one should take law In their hands,” she tweeted.

In May 2016, MQM’s coordination Committee had suspended membership of Irum for three months for ‘violating the organizational rules’.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain also endorsed the decision of the coordination committee.
Reacting on the decision, Irum said that she was suspended because of her peaceful message to the political workers.
“London RC (Rabita Committee) suspended me bec (because) of My Peaceful Msg2 (message to) workers from both sides. Altaf Bhai was taken on board after they already made up their mind,” she wrote on her Twitter account.
