Motorcycle Suggestions

So you got your eyes on anything yet or still looking..

I am still looking - got some good inputs here - Also thinking why not splurge a little bit(than my original budget of $10,000) and go for something like Hayabusa and sell it off if I plan on doing long trips.

You went from a cruiser to crotch rocket pretty fast :woot:

Tip though: Wifey or gf would HATE to sit on it any more than 15 minutes.

Tip#2: Get MSF, would bring down your insurance crashing like hell, and tell them insurance people you got riding experience in India, they accept it with an Indian DL.

I completed MSF as it is compulsory in the state I live in(Connecticut). I am getting 10% discount due to that. Thanks for the tip though on mentioning the Indian riding experience. But I have been living here for more than 14 years so I do not have an Indian DL. In fact, I had to take International permit with me to drive in India last month.(Though I understood it was not necessary in India as English is an official language and international permit is just a translation document of the driver license of a particular country)

Anyways Wifey can't sit in the motorcycle for the first 90 days as per the CT state rules. And it will the end of season by then and I have to wait till next season to get her as passenger - That is one of the reasons I am thinking about sports Motorcycle.

I would leave out Ducati and HD. HD is just overpriced crap. And Ducati is just overrated in India. It is unreliable and requires constant maintenance. Go for something reliable because spare parts will be hard to come by. Triumph and BMW are good bets.

If you wait a little, Triumph will be bringing its range of bikes to India. KTM too if I am not mistaken(but will be 375cc or so).

And yes, if you aren't going to buy a full leather suit to go along with the motorcycle, dont buy the motorcycle as well.

If you are in USA, I would definitely not go with HD and Ducati. Don't American riders hate those two brands?

To inspire @Sashan, here are some photos from a 5,000 mile ride taken by three friends from San Fransisco to Detroit over one month:
