CPA, honestly speaking is an auditor s certification. I am a CPA but its not a real value add to my work. Yes CFA is really a certification worth doing and man it gets some bolts out of you....!!!!

I have followed this interesting discussion since its beginning.

The key point is that the profession should be that one that one loves to do, and achieves other related goals like compensation and expertise.

However, "prestige" is a mere perception, more of the social structures around the person, and to a small extent the person themselves.

As such, this discussion cannot be more that expression of varied opinions, and therefore may or may not be able to create any sort of consensus.
