The should have physically eliminated those rebels under India a decade earlier!!! Saying something about them after March, '71 was way too late....

In the book ''WItness to Surrender' the author notes that about half of East Pakistan (or more) went in to rebel's control after the siege of March 23rd, 1971. There were discussions of offering amnesty to rebels so that they can be brought back to negotiations.

But hard liner West Pakistani leadership (like our hawkish posters above) wanted to squash the rebellion by force and did not offer amnesty. Next 9 months were enough to realize the result of hard line stance.

What I am saying is that one should always give a fair chance to disgruntled brothers to stop fighting you.

I would really like to know how did I get it wrong? Mujeeb won elections of 1970 , fair and square. He was to become Prime Minster of both East & West Pakistan.

Why was he denied premiership when he won a fair election? And how did denying him the democratic right worked out for united Pakistan?

The West Pakistani Hawks which lost East Pakistan are now again trying their best to lose Baluchistan.

no one is denying that he won but it was too late, Ayub had sealed the fate of easy pakistan when Mujeeb was released and allowed to take part in elections ..

They should be held accountable for the countless murders of innocent Pakistanis from various provinces who went to Balochestan to earn a living. He also gave detail regarding his contacts with RAW and how RAW pays $3000 monthly stipend to overseas baloch activists to maintain a line against Pakistan.

That's the only way forward, sooner or later they had to realise this reality, glad they have at last.
