. . . .
They're indeed cute.. But i find it abhorrent that kids this young are forced in to monkhood, This is especially practiced todate in more theravadic Countries like Thailand and Sri Lanka

In the 21st century people need to given a choice and a choice as an adult to seek priesthood, Lots of social issues have cropped up within the Sangha in recent years because of this archaic practice.. They need to evolve these to be more suited to the modern world with so much exposure to the outside world

They are not. In China, to be a monk means you should first finish your education and then seek a senior monk to adopt you as his student. This is just a show for them and their parents.

Yes.. Those practices are more prevalent in Theravada Buddhist nations like Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos etc.. Than East Asian Buddhist nations like China or Korea

Ordaining very young novice monks would have been practical centuries ago.. Mainly due to education those days were centered around temples but not any more.. With so much exposure and distractions in the modern world these kids can turn out to be disillusioned and frustrated in Adult life.. This has been a case in many occasions leading to even sexual assaults and other criminal activities.. Leaving a bad legacy in the Sangha community
