Israeli Searcher drone sold to Russia

Moscow acknowledged flying drone over the Israeli-controlled Golan heights last month, saying it was the result of a human error, the Haaretz daily reported early on Sunday, citing unnamed Israeli officials.

Israel fired two Patriot missiles at an unidentified drone that entered Israeli airspace from Syria on July 17, but the missiles failed to intercept the unmanned aircraft and it returned to its origin.

According to Haaretz, the incident was discussed by the Israeli and Russian militaries; the two countries have set up a coordination mechanism following Russia's intervention in Syria on behalf of the embattled President Bashar Assad.

The airspace in the border region between Syria and Israel has been the site of similar incidents.

In September 2014, Israeli shot down a Syrian fighter jet, which Israel said infiltrated the country's air space, the first such incident in over 30 years.

That August, Israel reportedly shot down a drone that penetrated Israel's air space over the Golan Heights.

It was reported By Mako news earlier that the drone that penetrated into Israel was no other than the IAI searcher.
Israel has sold this particular model, called the Searcher, to Russia in the past. In fact, Israel granted Russia permission to assemble the drones in Syria itself.

Wise Israeli intentionally didn't target the drone point blank as the drone was made by them...secondly they used American missile at drone ...so win win for Israel...their drone survived the American air defence so big plus to their potential sale of such weapons...

LOL. This is according to Israeli sources that they "understand". They are just trying to save face by spinning news that it was Russian drone made by Israel. Russia doesn't operate that deep into Israel-Syria, Syria-Lebanon border. It's Hezbollah that do. It was probably an Iranian drone that Hezbollah wanted to test Israeli air defence capability.

Israeli Probe Backs Russian Claims of Accidental Drone Border Breach
TEL AVIV — Last month’s violation of Israeli airspace by a Syrian-based Russian UAV was “very likely” the result of human error, according to preliminary findings of an Israeli Air Force (IAF) probe published Monday by Israel’s Ha’aretz daily.

“The probe indicates there were at least seven phone conversations on the hotline between the IAF and the Russian forces in Syria to ascertain that the drone was Russian and to send it back, but at first the Russians denied it was their drone,” wrote veteran military reporter Amos Harel.

“Only later … did Russia admit to the drone’s entry into the airspace above the Golan [Heights] and explain that it was a result of human error.”

According to the report on the July 17 border breach, the drone took off from a Russian-controlled base near Damascus, crossed Israel’s northern border and flew southwestward “until it was identified patrolling in circles above a kibbutz in the Galilee panhandle.”

By then, with a pair of F-16s scrambled and Patriot Pac-2 batteries poised to shoot, IAF officers made “at least seven phone calls in the course of about 20 minutes,” all of which were met with Russian claims that none of their drones had crossed into Israeli territory.

After the IAF ascertained that all of its UAVs were accounted for, orders were given to shoot down the intruder. But the UAV managed to evade not one, but two Patriot anti-air interceptors and an air-to-air missile launched by one of the F-16s.

At the time of the incident, the Israeli military spokesman insisted the intruding UAV had been detected before it breached national airspace and was “fully tracked” by the IAF. According to his July 17 statement, “No hit of the target was identified,” despite “three intercept attempts [that] took place as per procedure.”

Israeli drones are so good that no interceptor can shoot them down :yahoo:

There is American's tongue in the mouth of Israel, you are not speaking America is speaking.

Ahahaha we bombed Hezbollah's weapons convoy just recently, I don't see Iran or Hezbollah responding kid.
Next war you can say Bye bye to lebanon.
Because we are going to use every weapon we have. illegal or not.
Hezbollah and Iran deals are covert and thus is never acknowledged. Russia is a state that is participating in the Syrian war openly and are going to acknowledge if something like this happened.

And exactly how well did your last "bye bye to Lebanon" happened! It was a shameful defeat on Israel's part.
