The US police seems to treat blacks with greater hostility than whites. While it is a problem, we can't really criticize the US police when we look at figures regarding crime.

A black man conceded that he felt safer around white people. Not absolutely safe, because there is not such thing, but simply safer. So what does that tell you ?
You think a black officer is going to treat a black suspect any different when the suspect will not comply to orders ?
Here is a list of things the ACLU -- an organization that is no friend of the government -- advised to do when stopped by the police:
1 — Stay calm and in control of your words, body language, and emotions. Anything you say or do can be used against you.
2 — Do not argue with officers. If you feel you must tell police they are wrong, do so in a non-confrontational way.
3 — Keep your hands where police can see them and do not touch an officer or resist physically.
4 — If arrested, ask for a lawyer immediately. Explaining your situation without a lawyer may harm your case.
5 — You may ask for officers' names, badge numbers and business cards.
6 — You never have to consent to a search of yourself or your belongings, including your cellphone.
7 — Try to find witnesses and write down their names and phone numbers.
8 — If hurt, take photos of the injuries, but get medical attention first. Ask for copies of your medical treatment files.
Explain to me how are items 1 and 3 unique to the US ? By unique I mean only a few other police forces in the world uses them.

I want you to explain to the Americans on this forum how a black police officer would disregard items 1 and 3 when dealing with a black suspect, meaning he will allow the black suspect to rage, threaten, and holds a weapon, but he will enforce items 1 and 3 when dealing with a white suspect.
Eric Garner was already well known to the locals, citizens and police, to be a petty criminal. Nothing serious like rape or murder, but he has a record of 30 arrests for minor crimes going back to age 10. Did you know that ? Did you even bother to find out ? We can chalk up 'No' for both questions. Police -- regardless of country -- will
ALWAYS want to know who/what they are dealing with, and if a suspect -- black or white -- have a record, depending on the contents of that record, the police will treat that suspect accordingly. Common sense, right ? But even if a suspect have a record of non-violent behavior, items 1 and 3 will still be foremost on the officer's mind because there is no certainty how a person would behave. By the way, Garner's police record contains 'assault' as one his charges.
In the video, it was clear that the white officers did not impulsively charged Garner. They let him vent and it went on for a few minutes. Only when they felt it was necessary -- wrongly or rightly is for a different discussion -- to take custody of him, that Garner refused to comply to items 1 and 3 that ended in tragedy. It is common sense that when you are outnumbered -- either submit or suffer the consequences of being manhandled by superior force.
It does not matter if you were just laid off from work, your wife filed for divorce, your girlfriend left you for a richer guy, your son became a drug dealer, your daughter ran off with a biker gang, your dog got ran over, and your house burned down -- all on the same day. If the police stopped you for distracted driving because you felt terrible, the first thing they want you to do is submit to items 1 and 3 before they will listen to your sob story, and may be they will let you go with a warning because they felt sorry for you.
Dishonest people like you do not care about these details and the Americans on this forum expects nothing else. A few white officers and that is all you need to make up your own version of the event. Contexts be damned.
