In quite a startling finding by the US think tank Pew Research Centre, Pakistan is home to more Indian migrants than the US. Pew is a nonpartisan American think tank that provides researches and data on social issues, demographic trends, and public opinion.

The study revealed that about half of Indian migrants live in just three countries. The top destination of Indian migrants still remains the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where about 3.5 million of them reside.

“Over the past two decades, millions of Indians have migrated there to find employment as laborers,” the mentioned report added.

Interestingly, the second biggest destination of Indian migrants has been none other than the arch-rival Pakistan. For Pakistan, the number of Indian migrants stands at 2 million. The US is the third-largest, with ‘almost’ another 2 million.

Another fact worth noticing is that one-in-twenty migrants worldwide, India is among the top sources of international migrants, it is also among the top destinations for international migrants.

“The overwhelming majority of India’s immigrants are from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh (3.2 million), Pakistan (1.1 million), Nepal (540,000) and Sri Lanka (160,000),” Pew study said.

Even more confounding is that despite these statistics, India also has one of the world’s lowest emigration rates.

“Only about 1% of India’s birth population lives outside of the country, a similar emigration rate to that of the US,” Pew said.

i think muhajir included since they still call themselves muhajir their is possibility PEW include them as indian. india shout alot if one hindu move to india but its indian new generation who wants to move out of india if not 100% atleast 90% would not want to stay in that Shi# hole.

.
Confusing article.

Do they include Muhajirs?
Muhajirs are Pakistani and not Indian so you can't include them.

If it is only talking about the last 20 years then I would be interested to know how millions of Indians have managed to move to Pakistan. Would make a really good story.

Another fine gem by western media circus and so-called Research Groups. These clowns couldn't get a news right even if slapped them in the face.

The report appears to imply this is over the last two decades. If true, the actual number over the last 60 to 70 years should be much higher.

However, the most interesting part is at the end of the report, and another example of how information coming out of certain countries can simply not be taken on face value.

Also, note that this report is from 2017.

Muhajirs arent Indian citizens so i doubt it includes them.

There are about a dozen kashmiri refugee camps in Northern Pakistan, and there are a lot of migrants from the last 2 decades in Karachi, also students, and spouses so not that surprising really.

.
What? I think they might have added Mubajirs but that is stupid. They are Pakistani, not "Indian Migrants."

Been saying this for a long time. They blend into the slums in large cities of Sindh proving firepower and support to Altaf's bhai's rackets under MQM. This is open secret that many influentials have masked over.

Here is the reality:

So people who were born in India before 1947 and have moved to Pakistan during partition have been included.

.
I had a childhood friend here who I recently found was from Karachi Mohajir community. I always found they 'gravitated' towards India/Indians. We have lot of Kashmiris here and I see them more favourable towards Indians then fellow Kashmiri Pakistanis. Often even distancing themselves.

So kinda make sense with the weird behaviour upon learning. Just an observation. Makes sense 15 years on just hope it was isolated but attitude stemmed from upbringing.

.
These are not really the "Muhajirs" from 1947. The stream of migration continued up till the 1990's, this was primarily for economic reasons.

This third wave of Muhajirs maintain their relationships with their relatives in India, resulting in cross-border marriages , they are also the main contributor to Pakistani remittances to India.

No, that is candard peddled by some. I think even 2 million is probably a under estimate of Indian migrants who moved to Pakistan since 1980s. Did you know that as late as 2000s flights transit flights from India that used Karachi would see passengers offloading and never returning to their flight but instead disapearing into Karachi slums? The airport imigration allowed this to happen at behest of some significant figure. I will post a link later on this subject.

Sindh has seen millions of illegal Indians, Banglas, Rohingyas landed there since 1980 and mix into the city. All claim they are from 1947-50 [Indians] or before 1971 [Banglas] which is rubbish.
