That is why I must insist that this deal stinks of lobbying and corruption. Somebody must file a PIL to stall this acquisition.

There are many other ways to stall besides of embargo. Why should we stall this acquistion? Oh yes because it involved big bad US....grow a pair.

True. Our whole Sea King fleet was grounded after the UK refused to supply spares due to sanctions imposed on us following the Nuclear test. Only two countries which did not do so were France and Russia.

The moot point is whether these war machines will remain available to us in operational condition when we need them. What will happen if the US refuses to supply spares citing one reason or the other? This is the first instance when India is going to purchase an offensive weapon system from the US. The traditional approach was to only purchase only transport and defensive platforms from the US.

Ok fine, I'll give you another perspective. France and Russia sells us weapons and supposedly place no sanctions or restrictions but the tech sold to us is not cutting edge all the time. Compared to the same weapons platforms they have in their inventory, the product they sell us is not the same! Also, consider this tid bit. While they may arm us with weapons and place no sanctions in times of conflict or war, they also arm our enemies to the teeth. Russia- China and France-Pakistan.......we keep on wishfully thinking our piggybank and huge population is going to deter them but it hasn't yet.



India would have bought offensive platforms earlier from the US. The UPA contemplated it but given the opinions of political partners, it could not make such a stand.


Like I stated earlier, we need to get with parallel programs that steal, copy and reverse engineer thru any means necesary. Encourage private players. Playing the good guy routine in a world where everyone is trying to outedge everyone is simly shooting ourselves in the foot, no matter how much goodwill it earns.
