The local Panjsheeris don't like Amrullah Saleh and alot of people were saying for days now whether resistance or no resistance Panjsheeris want nothing with this man But most Panjsheeries were sympathic to the Taliban... People were also saying Amrullah Saleh is trapped inside Panjshir and that this is a trap etc etc.. Massoud himself wanted to negotiate and join the new IEA government but Saleh and Sadat exlusively wanted war and lay bait for the panjshiris unnecessarily. The People of Panjshir are muslimeen and noble and you can't bring pointless wars to them against their brethens

I think it's too early to confirm anything, as I said in another thread sustaining Kabul is different from capturing it. Taliban would need support of everyone they can get at the moment to solidify their base in Kabul.
