Because in Europe they will wash toilets, and in Russia they can become admirals, ministers, prosecutors, and so on. 3 of 7 General Secretaries of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (head of the State) came from Ukraine. 2of them - ethnic Ukrainians.

Ukraine Moldova and Romania are among the poorest states in Europe. Even I know this much. But yes it is surprising to see poverty in Europe too, especially since from our side (Pakistan) everyone wants to migrate there. I remember Greeks making a similar argument for Romanians by the way. That Alexander was from Greece and Macedonia is a part of Greece.

Romania is EU standard poor(9.5k $ per capita GDP)-not so poor by world standards though,in the middle actually,,Moldova and Ukraine are literally poor (2k per capita,respectively 4k per capita).

Greece and Macedonia argue over a name but are 2 different peoples speaking 2 different languages (Greek and a Slavic dialect).Romanians and Moldovans are the same nation speaking the Romanian language.

I was quite young back then. I do find it interesting though that you have declared that I support or supported Romanians being killed in that conflicted even though I have never spoke about it. Very stereotypical my friend, considering I condemn the violence in Ukraine and even have a sympathy for Ukrainian soldiers. Naturally I have less sympathy for ultra nationalists "battalions", although I still have pity on them too, mostly because they are misguided.

Actually Russian soldiers make about the same then as many "western" soldiers and the officers/generals make at least as much and often more then their NATO counter parts.

Sry for personalising you in my statement.The ideea was that those nationalistic Ukrainian forces fought on the Pro Russia side in 1992.Exactly the same loonatics.Heck,as i even pointed out before on this forum,there was a youtube video 1 year ago with the title "Ukrainian hero Army will fight Romanian agressors"...i laughed my way to the bank when i saw the same video a few months back (the same!) with a new title :"Ukrainian hero Army will fight the Russian agressors"-the same loonatics that Russia supported against us are now fighting you.Karma my friend,karma...

Shocking results (at least for the Goverment of Moldova it seems) in the 2014 Oficial Population Census:23.2% Of the people declared themselves Romanians as opposed to 1.86% in the 2004 Census,and 40.3% declared that their mother language is Romanian as opposed to 16.8% in 2004.Times are changing fast and the Moldovan identity fairy tale is melting away.In 10 years time when most of the communist educated dinosaurs will die,these numbers of today will only grow as the new generation sees herself as Romanian,not Moldovan.

But don't seperate national identities develop over time when they didn't exist before? Think of Austria which used to be regarded simply as part of Germany or countries like San Marino and Northern Ireland.
