Nothing substantial is going to happen. India sees itself as a counter weight to China, while China sees India as a US strategy to encircle China. Neither of the country is going to bulge from their stated position on Geo political stands. What is going to improve is economic relationship. Both need each other for different economic reasons. With Chinese economy slowing down, Chinese companies may look towards growing Indian markets, while India's focus would be to lessen the trade deficit and make China open its IT and Pharma industries for Indian companies.

Unless India grows by 7 to 8% every year for next 5 to 7 years, China is not going to take India seriously. Unless you are treated equally there is no bhai bhai. China understands that India has the potential to counter weigh China, but China also understand that there is paralysis of decision making in India that would not let India attain its full potential.
