Yes true.Was`nt it Bhutto(correct me if i m wrong) who just agreed to mutual retreat from all captured areas despite the factthat Pakistan army at a point was at the point of capturing rajauri(The point from where all of the indian logistics passed into IOK)

Egypt was in similar position after 1973 war. It could have resolved much larger Palestine issue with Israel but refrained from doing so. Stupid Muslim politicians

Amazing to see a country who grew based on Western donations of jobs and aid in 20 years, is spending hundreds of millions to celebrate a war. 20 years ago, these guys didn't even have this much money to spend on their independence day. All sponsored by jobs and investments thrown in by uncle Sam and cousins from across the ocean.

Modi should invite Obama or the British PM as the Chief guests and give them a Ferrari as a thank you, and both should be given Orange Vedic Ferraris that fly to Mars in 30 minutes and run on Water due to India being so advanced 6000 years ago in the shinny Vedic times. Love it!
The American president's picture in a suite (Clinton), should be put into the Indian Parliament next to Nehru (who's always without a suit) for salutes. Both, should be considered the Father of the Indian nation, one old school in the 40's, and the other one who helped create a modern India in mid nineties. Amazing how a country with over 600 million people without proper bed can carelessly spend hundreds of millions on useless celebrations.

If only anybody had read the article properly, which itself doesn't have much credibility and on which everyone is laying their propaganda and claims. It states the celebrations will be a " TRIBUTE TO INDIAN ARMY SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT FOR US".
Do we need a fully defined victory or loss to celebrate. Can't we do it just to remember the sacrifices?

And on some people commenting it should have been given to build toilets,
If only you were brave enough to substantiate your claims with proof, you would have actually tried and came to know that the budget allocated to build toilets is much more than that what the Pak navy has.

None of the sides won that war. Both sides captured each other's territory. Its called a stalemate but no victory.

I'll draw you attention to the fact that Pakistan had the objective of capturing Kashmir. But ended up with fulfilling the objective of saving Lahore.
Also, while Pakistan had the advantage of element of surprise, the war ended with India capturing 3 times more territory than Pakistan.
I don't understand why the war will be considered a stalemate. War is fought with objectives in mind. What do you think Indian objectives were ?

The above quoted amount is again not credible, but however I put my argument .

The amount roughly translates,into 6 million US dollars.
And the celebrations, if I try to explain you consists of inaugurating new projects which will benefit the Army mens family. Meaning schools, monuments and welfare centers . These tasks form a major share of any such event here. So investing 6 million US dollars on welfare on men who served us justified . At least according to me. And it should be to you also if any such welfare thing happens for Pak army.
