In a 'secular' country like india, why do you have laws banning the consumption of beef? Isn't that based on religion?

India dsnt have beef ban ,I ear beef.
Some states have ban and I too don't eat when I go to those states .
Everyone should have sane laws.

In India, secularism means something different.

It is the excuse used to dodge criticism when a Hindu majoritarian regime (whether Congress or BJP/RSS) visits state oppression, ostracization, and denies voices to minorities, most prominently Muslims.

They are actually secular in the real sense of the word, unlike Indian secularism where minority religions like Islam are under constant attack, physically and legally.
