And what is the benefit of building a +30 millions USD statue? Dont compare it to a space program which obviously has its benefits and a purpose but a giant statue?

Couldnt that money be used for public sanitation? Waste management? etc etc etc?

Such measures which clean up our cities (At least one with that money) will attract more tourists than a statue surrounded by dirt, waste and people sh**ting on roads.

You can generate more and more secure jobs by investing more money in public waste management and sanitation projects than in such projects. And needless to say, they will make more tourists come to India because they wont see dirty roads and public defecation on this ridiculous scale.

This is not just a statue. It will be a whole complex with its own proper visiting facility for tourists. Imagine the amount of tourism inflows that this venue will generate for Indians and the jobs it will create around.

Despite being not directly attached to the part of history with Sardar Patel, my sincerest respects to the Iron Man of India.

Sometimes I feel that NaMo is actually Patel who 'returned back' to complete the work that he couldn't do with Nehru around.

Sardar Patel was the first choice for PM and even won the majority support of Congress members to be PM. But thanks to Gandhi, it was turned down in favour of Nehru.

Had the Iron man been India's PM, today we would have been a real power.

Because Patel was a true nationalist leader. His thinking was like what we think today compared to Nehru who lived in opulence and had no idea of the realities of India.

He is among the few Indian leaders respected by people from all political ideologies. His is remembered in India for his contribution for convincing hundreds of princely states to join India and even didn't hesitate to use muscle power in case of Junagadh and Hyderabad instead of acting meek.
