Model Tejas Mk.2 At Aero India

LCAMK2_RANJAN.JPG

So we'll finally, hopefully, know what it looks like, and how different (if at all) it will be. The DRDO's curtain-raiser statement for Aero India 2011 suggests that it will be displaying models of the air force and navy TEJAS Mk.2. There has been little clarity over the real design changes likely to be incorporated in the Mk.2, so to specifically mention the Mk.2 in its list of model displays suggests that there will be something to talk about. Will it have canard foreplanes? We do know that the aft fuselage will undergo changes to house the GE-F414 turbofan, but that's pretty much all we really know. Will update this post over the next few hours with more.

Hadn't thought of using the totally unofficial fan-art image above until now. It was sent to me by someone last year, but I've misplaced their details. So if you recognise your image, please let me know so I can credit you!

OMG,,,,,, a canard thats cool!!!!!!........
Hope mk2 gets a rectangular intake.........

. . . .
sorry to poke around but , arent the canards too close to LERX's
how will the pilot get into the aircraft ?, as far as i'm concerned this looks like an artists imagination

Sorry guys, but this is just a fan art and not something official from ADA.

There is very little chance of Mk2 having canards (though not totally zero.)

Canard configuration for LCA was studied during the early design phase and it was found to be unnecessary.

Though a Leading Edge Vortex Controller (LEVCON) a la NLCA may be possible.

Though one thing is for sure I'm looking forward to AE 2011 more eagerly than ICC Cricket World cup!

i say make LCA MK2 in medium category ... put canards and 2 engine... :)

scrap the GE 414 deal

as kaveri is able to generate 70-75 kn now...so 150 k is good for a medium fighter... and as kaveri goes further with thrust.. it will only goes better .. i hope it touches to 100 kn :azn:

guyz !!! guyz this is only a artistic fantasy lol.... there not much info available about LCA mk2 ,maybe this AI we get some more ,so just wait and watch....

nice shape ,
what about engine?

either american's or russians. scince america just had lifted the arm embago, so it is very likely the U.S will play a big deal to help India to develop this plane not only the engines but also more advanced radar, sensors, composed materials, areodynamic elec equipments etc.

Yes, it's an artist's impression but the wind tunnel models gives us a good idea of what it will look like.

Dear, the engine is GE F414. A deal is already signed for around a 100 of them for MK2. And this has nothing to do with lifting of arm embargo. Tejas has been using a US engine (GE F404) since its first flight when India was under heavy US sanctions.
