MOD to HAL: Build Tejas Mk.2 With Export In Mind

Again, India should give a rest about exporting Tejas. The plane has an American engine and would require American permission for any exports. As India is not capable of producing an airplane without importing engine and radar, it should focus on achieving this first before considering exporting.

These are just plans, we won't see much for at least a good couple of years.

Because US was not willing to part with the "technology". Lets not twist the facts. Tejas is poorly designed plane. I am not even talking about all the "indigenous built foreign parts". Nothing India made stands up to scrutiny. One way to actually gauge the tall claims is to sell the product and let others speak about it. What chance anyone would buy LCA?

Why should I twist the fact? The F-22 is poorly designed plane.There is no third party scrutiny over the weapons and those buy US weapons are forces to buy them as there is not other choice.

Huge chance. When HAL makes sufficient numbers for IAF than it will be exported.

No he is not and I never critisied LCA as a fighter, but parts of the program that failed and caused delays.

it is not just abut LCA he hates overall everything 'made in India'! So much hate!!! We have such people!!!!! lol

What chance anyone would buy LCA?

Pretty good actually! The only competitor in this class is JF 17 and J10 to some extend. Gripen production is closing and as long the NG did not find any customer it is unlikely that it will start at all. The F16 and Mig 29 are old fighters with production going to end soon, while Rafale and EF are medium class fighters, the F18SH even medium to heavy.

So any country that wants a light class 4th to 4.5 gen fighter will have to consider the Tejas as well, especially those countries that wants western techs, or weapons as well, because the Chinese designs can't offer these. Imo we might see LCAs in Vietnam, some African and South American countries, maybe even some Gulf countries like Oman would consider it at their low end, below EF that might be added soon.

You know India can in fact ''import'' the LCA by cutting down the on number of fighter and fighter upgrade (ie the Mirage) and devoting more funds to inducting the LCA in greater numbers. This would be a good show of faith that India has trust in the LCA to perform which would in turn help exports.

This would also go a ways to appease the Americans because higher number of engine purchases.
