Mob targets temples, gurdwaras in Pak over alleged blasphemy

Angry mob attempted to set ablaze Hindu temples and Sikh gurdwaras in a southwestern Pakistan province over alleged desecration of a holy book in Sindh, local media reported today.


Security personnel in the restive Balochistan province ensured that no damage was done to religious places belonging to the two minority communities.

Protests were held across Balochistan yesterday. The mob set afire a number of shops in Jaffarabad.



A large number of people tried to attack Hindu temples and gurdwaras, Dawn daily said in a report on its website. They also tried to enter Hindu localities, but police and Levies personnel foiled the attempt.

Police fired in the air to stop the protesters from attacking a temple in Dera Allahyar area.

All shops, markets and commercial centres were closed in the districts of Jaffarabad, Nasirabad and Sobatpur bordering Sindh.

Security has been beefed up in and around temples and gurdwaras while police and Levies personnel were patrolling Hindu and Sikh localities.

The mob yesterday attacked a temple in Larkana city, the hometown of the Bhutto family and the stronghold of the Pakistan People's Party.

The Hindu man, who was accused of blasphemy, has been taken into protective custody.

Why would Hindus be extinct there ??

These souls are surviving the hardest circumstances in Pakistan for decades and will continue to thrive. I think Pakistani Govt. should address this issue and give confidence to Hindus and Sikhs living in Pakistan.

Religion is being used to solve the personal issues some times by the people , Proper inquiry should be done before giving judgement, Mob culture is dangerous for any nation.

This is the high time to bring back all Hindus (Shikhs are included) back to India and bring bask all Idoles of temple and reconstruct the temple in India. Not even one Hindu or shikh remain in Pakistan. Rather than facing day to day insult and danger, it is good to bring them back in their own mother land.

They are citizens of another country. If we interfere with them, Pakistan will also cry about muslims in India. All people had a choice in 1947 and those Hindus chose to stay back.

We have enough problems of our own. Talks of resettling hindus of Pakistan in India is absurd. It will strain our resources and aggravate our problems. Also it will give a chance to Pakistan to talk about Godhra and UP riots which are our internal problems.
