Maharashtra Navnirman Sena would be conducting written examination followed by personal interviews to select its candidates for the upcoming civic polls.

“Eligible and efficient candidates who clear the exam would be given tickets to contest the elections,” MNS chief Raj Thackeray said while addressing a party meet here.

Besides the prestigious Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), civic bodies at Thane, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur among others, are due for polls in early next year.

Those aspiring to contest elections in these municipal corporations as MNS nominees will have to appear for the one- and-a half hour exam on December 4, he said.

Questions related to various aspects of the civic administration will be asked in the exam.

Asserting that conventional methods of choosing candidates must change, Mr. Raj said people should know their nominees are capable and efficient.

The MNS chief said he did not care for people who think the move is a ‘stunt’. “Candidates should not think they will get tickets for sure. Only those clearing the examination will be eligible for tickets.”

Mr. Raj stated that he will personally take interviews of the candidates who have passed the examination.

“For Assembly elections also, exams will be conducted,” he said, adding that, “If I want to contest the elections, the rule will apply to me too.

“The aim is not to deny tickets to the candidates but to make them more efficient. The incumbent Corporators will also have to write the exams if they want to contest again,” the MNS leader asserted.

I think it is very nice move by MNS....common people have started to make huge queues outside MNS office to collect exam forms..

He said he will attend that exam and he has to attend that exam if he decides to contest in the future.

And nobody can teach anybody national integration.

If so why don't you file a case against him under national security act............you can't because it will be thrown out of the court thats why...................

It is not national integration actually that people care about....they do not care if their states do not progress....they just keep on supporting migration to maharashtra rather than pushing their leaders for developing their states...

You're also likes of those who want reservation in everything. Always praising your own cast, religion and language and everybody else is like "Pitoge Mumbai Mein."

And for the development of other states, we also go to other states or even country for better opportunities, but no one does what this Thackerey is doing in my city to my very own countrymen. Of course I can't do anything about it, but it doesn't make me wrong.
