Why is it necessary to assume the mullahs are stupid or hypocritical? Can't we take it at face value that in their judgment their religion demands they exercise authority to decide who lives and who dies and whether or not Pakistan's economy is allowed to function?

That is what fcuked us up. It would take decades to show. But Pakistan got proper fcuking over in 1949 with Objectives Resolution. It effectively gave sovereignty to Mullahs and post dated cheque. And they are here to cash the cheque today.

I am unable to understand that what's wrong with them. There are no solid evidence regarding the blasphemy case against Asia bibi. According to SC's verdicts that there are contradiction among witnesses of this case. So instead of proving the case against Asia they are deliberately want to hang Innocent. Is this your Islam mullahs?

doesnt matter, previoulsy accused were released for being innocent the accused and all the judges were killed

Not really sure. My guess is that many Pakistanis have been immersed so much in "religion" for so much of their lives - even at times they don't want to be - that they forget there are men who act in the genuine belief that they are acting in service of G-d, not selfishness.

The reason why I call attention to what should be an obvious point is that if this is the case there is a better way to address their issues than brute force alone: genuine and public dialogue. Find out what these mullahs' personal fears and aspirations are and define limits so they can pursue a meaningful life without imposing themselves upon the larger society and alleviating their perceived threat of the larger society imposing itself on them.

If after that they persist in attempting to destroy the State then you know they're not in it for a higher purpose, yes?

I don't think many people understand the real problem. The real problem is not the Mullah but the 'complex' he has been infected with. What is this 'complex'?

Well, as Europe gained ascendancy after the renaissance and spread outwards it collided with the islamic world on it's boundaries. In a replay of the crusades a secular Europe began to slowly take over Muslim societies. Shocked by the defeat and subsequent colonization the enslaved and raped Muslims reacted in various ways with the two extremes being -

• A- By taking the European ascendancy head on with confidence ~ adopt and copy liberally the very factors that had given Europe the economic and military advantage. The best example of this is Kemal Mustafa Ataturk.
• B -By taking the European ascendancy by cowering and cowardice ~ this involved effectively doing a intellectual ostrich and refusing to accept the changing world around them. Their answer was to retire behind closed doors and re-enact myths of the past. This enabled them to create a dream. A dream that could be sold with trappings of religion of Islam. This intellectual cowardice which smacked of defeatism was led by Mullahs and could be summed simply as just reaction of Europe. If they walked on the left, that was haram. If they used red ink, that was haram. If they walked on two legs that was haram. It was a reationery ideology of defeat sold as 'Islam'.

Today almost all Muslim societies are somewhere on this scale and more closer they are to A you will see they are at comfort with the modern world. The more they are closer to B more conflicted and trouble yoiu will see. Pakistan Mullahs and large segments of society are sadly epitomy of and display all the symptoms of defeatism and infected by this complex. You see how Pakistani's even living in Sweden or Western Europe talk of 'westoxified' or 'Libturds'. All these are symptoms of a catastrophic defeat that many of us still can't overcome and carry that 'defeatist complex'.

Ps. Two very disparate countries that reacted to European ascendancy with confidence were Turkey and Japan. Both evolved and effectively copied aspects of Western success or the ingredients that made them a success and in doing so re-morphed into dynamic societies. Japan of course has the honour of being the first in 1880s.

Psychologists would say that Pakistanis may be skewed towards ego defense mechanisms that are neurotic (female) and immature (men) (see Ego defense mechanisms in Pakistani medical students: a cross sectional analysis.) However, that doesn't mean the effort at direct dialogue shouldn't be attempted, or that the results would be useless.

An outside moderator (not mediator) may be useful if you don't think Pakistani "brains" suffice. But in my experience the Pakistanis I've met are very intelligent so it's a matter of training, not brains.
