MITSUBISHI PAJERO SUV MAKES IT DEBUT AS AN INDIAN ARMY VEHICLE IN SIKKIM!

Awesome news!! Pajero is good vehicle...!

We should spend more money on our armed forces

Looks like a gift from India... :)

---------- Post added at 01:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:57 PM ----------

There are no airfields in Sikkim, not because they're not required but engineers are yet to figure out how to get around the mountain ranges and lay a proper airfield.
Common not atleast one airfield is possible in Sikkim ? Its insane...

There are helipads but the logistics involved in moving tonnes of supplies or personnel at those heights tells heavily on equipment.
Since no airfield is there i think we should go for more helipads and this is why i said earlier in different threads that IA should purchase more and more transport choppers as mobilization of troops in case of any conflict and even natural disaster is very slow.

.
I think it would have been alot better if they had gone for either a Range Rover or Mahindra Axe...Reasons...
1} Both the companies are owned by Indian enterprenures

2} Alot better then labelled as Copy cats....

Land Rover might be way more expensive. Secondly, Pajero is the best for this job but yeah expensive for a country like India but Land Rover will also be expensive for us. If i would have to chose, i would go for Gurkha LAPV.

Its also shown in Fast 5 movie.

Craziest one is Russian Aton-Impulse VIKING-2992:

The *ahem!* Pajero is a very reliable vehicle. It's a good choice for army.

This story best be a joke. What are we? kindy kids? Vehicles to show off?

Not just Vehicles, both troops are competing with roads and outposts as well! Wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese put in a swimming pool next.

Are more orders likely to follow to be used throughout IA? as it seems ridiculous for a uniformed force to be operating different equipments in different parts of the country.

Its a vehicle. All the major countries operates many different kinds of vehicles. I don't think IA will go on to replace all its gypsies with Pajero because its expensive. We could go for US or Russian options or may be go for indian options which are good at the moment and cheap also.

Italian Iveco LMV M65 is also good. Russia is arming its forces with this vehicle.

Actually no. We have a variety of terrain conditions in which the IA operates, from plains to riverine to deserts to semi deserts to mountains to jungles to amphibian/marine/island. Each terrain type has a specific set of requirements. Equipment is procured to meet these specific requirements. Since a special piece of equipment is to be operated only in a specific sector as dictated by the terrain conditions in that sector, these are called sector stores or sector equipment. A battalion/regiment moves into a sector, takes over these stores, trains on them, uses them and when its stint in that sector is complete, it hands over these stores to the relieving battalion/regiment and moves out.

Pajero will be a prized asset and do you think the jawans especially the officers would let go of that. Lets face it Maruti Gypsy is no where near Pajero when it comes to ride comfort. Anyways I think IA should have gone for Indian eqpt. I heard Force Gurkha is one of the best vehicles available in India when it comes to offroad capabilities.
