Missile technology doesn't necessarily mean ICBM technology. We should start from what we are capable of. You must start from somewhere then develop. You can't resist the enemy forever depending on imported weapons. I think even adopting a plan like 'compulsory military training' or 'survival training' would prove more rewarding in the long run than spending on importing weapons.

Why should they consider us reliable friends when the party in power gives free transit to India and keeps mum on border
killings. The taiwan office saga didn't harm our relations at all and BNP consistently supported china's once china policy. But
I agree BNP did made mistakes by not investing much on defence but they rather wanted good relations with china and
East asia. They are better than BAL on any given day.

I dunno whether u r a bling anti india or anti BAL....
BAL is spending good on defence, only if ur military wishes, can the govt consider the project....

Why bangladesh military isn't investing on making missiles? Everyone now things twice before attacking iran and the reason is its missiles. Same thing can happen to bangladesh. I know that bangladeshi military mainly defensive but in a war if you can not take the war into adversary's country basically you aren't winning. Bangladesh should think to make missiles, for the beginning, short range and later with research, distance could be increased. I see nobody here discuss about missiles and I see that military of bangladesh aren't intending to take the steps to make missiles. Why is that?

We do need missiles at ;least with 500 km range which can be loaded with conventional weapons. But for that we need to
have a pro-bangladeshi party in power not indian dalals like BAL. And we also don't the technical base for a indigenous missile
programme and most likely export of ballastic missile technology is illegal. SO we have to get it from Iran or N.korea. Chinese
won't give us the tech unless we form a deep strategic relation with them like PAK

So you must have the permission from US to increase missile range limit like S.K, other wise, you will got hard sanction like Korea and Iran and of course VietNam was sanctioned when possesing Scud-D (range 900-1000km) and nuclear capable missile Shaddock(range 500km)too.

Um...what kind of "missiles" are you referring to exactly friend? There are many kinds for different purposes.

It is hard to make a good missile in-house, and takes a lot of resources and know-how by trail and error. Yes, it is even hard to make a good A2A missile.

I am not even going to talk about cruise and ballistic missiles being developed in-house

Real life is not Command & Conquer where you can "make" stuff like candies

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it takes a lot of time and other resources. But I'd question the value for Bangladesh. We don't have a lot of permanent enemies. Against India?

India recently successfully tested the Agni V ballistic missile with a range of more than 5,000 km. And of-course, it is nuclear capable. They have been working on the Agni series for decades. Agni I was tested on 1989 if I'm not mistaken.

Think of it this way, if I'm two steps ahead of you from beginning, and you've started just now, then I'd always be two steps ahead of you given that I keep developing. Are we anywhere near India's current technology advantage?

And trust me, they'd go further to Agni VI. This is mainly done so to deter China.

Bangladesh Navy does have a workshop for C-802 anti-ship missiles if I'm not mistaken, and that's a good start. Who knows what the future holds? Anything is possible. Technology can make leaps and bounds.

I understand that this current government is getting on people's nerves. This current drama we are seeing will go on for at least 15-20 years.

Surely we will develop our missile power.But of all give some time to make our economy grow to 500bn or 1tn.Then we will not face problems from any sides.

But for the beginning we can just gather the technologies to have good knowledge about those.
