Minister Brown's working visit to Pakistan will guard Denel

At IDEAS 2016, Burt Van Staade, Executive Manager, Business Development, Denel SOC (Ltd) told Exhibitors TV that the 155mm T5-52 artillery system has been successfully trialed & tested in Pakistan for the past few months adding that "We have done extensive mobility trials, we have done firing trials, we have also done a whole lot of trials in the mountains with our artillery piece".

He said that Denel is offering the A-Darter missile to the PAF. The company also marketed it's Umkhonto air defence system.

Excellent! If we could also consider replacement for HJ-8/Baktar Shikan with Ingwe and Mokopa. That will be an all around deal.

.
the g6 is a heavy weight weapon(46 tonne) that would be a nightmare to move in the kashmir region. whilst the t5-52 is much smaller and lighter machine and weighs 28 tonnes)
Sire, we have 105mm that can be used.

Finally this is happening but I still dont see your units buying anything of value; there is too much vested interests.

A classic example is the mine proof vehicles; this is first on the priority list which you need but instead of approaching us, all sorts of deals with unknown players who have no track record of vehicles are getting enlisted. Second priority would be helmet sights, next would be considering to join in the darter program with Brazil/SA, electronics - which is a major forte on our side and apparently unknown to yourselves - radar, comms, ecm/eccm etc (reutech), standoff weapons etc etc. and the list is never ending not to mention artillery which is second to none.

My colleagues always used to pride ourselves as viewing problems in a different light from the rest of the world.

Try our solutions, and you will be astounded. btw, some of them are in the field for 40yrs and evolved onwards.

A word of caution if there is any Pak defence attache - be very weary of GUptas. These are snakes who will be on Indian payroll; if we had our way we would get their falsely obtained naturalisation terminated and deport them out. They are sitting in Dubai with their homes daily barricaded by protesters and are fearful of entering this country. They and zUma have eaten monies from our very tax payers and public.

There is tender in Pakistan Army for procurement of 155mm wheeled SPH.

IMO, there is no need to replace Baktar Shikan as of now.

I am hoping Pakistan invests in Denel's Umkhonto EIR program and takes some assembly work. All services (PA, PAF, PN) could then acquire Umkhonto for some role.

PA is looking for a mobile SR-SAM & MBDA has already proposed Spada 2000 in 2015. At IDEAS 2016, MBDA officials said they were hoping to start negotiations with PA.

PAF may also look for a solution to replace few remaining HQ-2B and even some Crotale's.

PN requires SAM for ports, shipyards, naval bases and airfields, coastal anti-ship missile batteries, etc. And even the Chinese frigates of unknown type on order.

The only reason I mentioned Baktar Shikan for replacement is the bulky nature and weight of the system. it is not man portable and any war that happens will need Man portable systems.

Umkhonto is a promising system. I hope a decision is reached in due time for the systems tested.

Army has acquired Alcotan-100 as portable AT weapon. I believe more would be purchased.

.
I wish Pakistan joins SA for Helmet mount display system with A-darter purchase/TOT for JF-17, this will be very good for future.

a 105mm gun is not a lethal as a 155mm gun, and as occupied kashmir said the tender is for a self propelled 155mm gun not a towed 105 mm gun. although a 105 mm gun would be light enough to be carried/slung by a mil-17 id imagine

G7 Leo is a prototype. Denel wants someone to fund it's development.

Contrary to your claims, it has proven itself in the mountains of Yemen.

. .
A darter was being marketed even before the trails were completed and offered to be tried /tested in Pak but at the time paf was focused on ramping up Fj production and not Aams
