PESHAWAR -The government authorities have decided in principle to launch the offensive against terrorists in North Waziristan, a private news channel reported on Monday.

Army has been asked to be prepared for any action that may be directed.

Sources cited government authorities as saying that every possible step will be taken to ensure peace ranging from launching air offensive to surgical strikes to eliminate terrorists from the region.

They said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had also directed that no compromise be made on national security.

My heart is pumping...... no doubt on our military's ability to tackle them out, but man just look at the scale of the possible operation. I can smell blood. May Allah's blessings be upon our forces. But i am a worried man.

You know its so sad.. Had India and Pakistan been on better terms, India should have retreated its forces from international borders to give PA more leverage to deploy its forces for this operation..

Without political will, even if you have thousands of drones and gunships, the result will be a defeat.. There is no substitute for political will

Govt committee calls off meeting with TTP team

ISLAMABAD -The government representative committee has excused from meeting Taliban nominated committee today (Monday), following the video in which the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) claimed to have beheaded 23 FC personnel.

Government negotiation committee coordinator Irfan Siddiqui in this connection said that the meeting of the negotiation committees was of no use following the beheading of the 23 captured FC personnel by the Mohamand Agency faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP).

He said that such repeated gruesome incidents during the process of talks casting negative impact on the talks.

Irfan Siddiqui further said that the government committee with one voice termed this latest tragic incident highly shocking and condemnable.

Earlier, it was reported that two members of the government committee were set to leave for Miranshah to hold direct talks with the Taliban.

It may be recalled that a faction of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (Mohmand Agency) on Sunday claimed the killing of 23 FC personnel who were kidnapped in June 2010 from Shoonkri Post in tribal region of Mohmand Agency.
