Featured Military leadership had asked parliamentary leaders not to drag it into politics

Now it's a norm to blame army if you lose elections. Incompetent & corrupt leaders of pmln & ppp are trying hard to convince their electorate that we didn't lose elections bcz majority of people were against us + our policies but rather it was an establishment who made us lose elections lol..

The military leadership, in a meeting last week with parliamentary leaders, stressed that that the army should not be dragged into political parties' matters, Geo News reported Monday.
They had conveyed clearly that the army was “not involved, directly or indirectly, in any political process of the country”.

“If the need arises, the army will stand with the civilian government,” a senior military official had told parliamentary leaders in the meeting.

According to reports, the meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director-General of Inter Services Intelligence Lt Gen Faiz Hameed. Gilgit-Baltistan's administrative affairs were also on the meeting's agenda.

The military leadership also told the civilians that the army was not involved in either electoral reforms or problems related to the National Accountability Bureau and other political matters. It also told them that it was the responsibility of the political leadership to work out such matters between themselves.
Details of the meeting emerged a day after Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed confirmed that parliamentary leaders had met the military leadership and discussed matters related to the country.

Separately on Monday, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Seed also confirmed that the meeting took place last week, saying that the country's institutions should not be made “controversial”.

“They target institutions and then ask for time for meetings,” Saeed said, referring to opposition leaders. He had said that the clear message from the military leadership was to "not involve the military in politics".

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday met Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Members of the federal cabinet and other officials were also present in the meeting. The meeting was given briefing on the Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC). Prevailing security situation of the country was also discussed, The Express Tribune learnt.

The meeting took place a day after Nawaz Sharif’s no-holds-barred onslaught against a “parallel state” in Pakistan while speaking at a multiparty opposition confab in Islamabad via video link.

The PML-N supremo said the opposition’s struggle was not against Imran Khan “but against those who had imposed such an incapable person on the country through a rigged election”.
PM Imran, earlier today, took a jibe at his convicted predecessor, saying that “once again a fugitive sitting in London is maligning the state institutions”.

His cabinet members, in a news conference, also lashed out at opposition leaders particularly the deposed prime minister, accusing him of making state institutions controversial.

Planning Minister Asad Umar, Information Minister Shibli Faraz, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry addressed the joint press conference in Islamabad.
Sharif, who has been handed a seven-year jail term on charges of financial corruption, was allowed by the government and court to travel to London for treatment of some undiagnosed ailment late last year. But now he has refused to return and a court has declared him a proclaimed offender.

It is way too late for General Qamar Bajwa to organise this meeting. And even more late to make it public through Pakistani media after vicious attacks by Nawaz Sharif in his speech at the APC.

Secondly, General Bajwa is factually wrong.

Just before the release of Nawaz on Bail and him allowed to leave Pakistan. It is reported in Pakistani media that Shahbaz Sharif had several meetings with Military Brass including General Bajwa to strike the deal for his brother Nawaz depature from Pakistan.

We heard in Pakistani media that before the elections Shahbaz had meetings with Military leadership. It is reported that he was told he would be PM of Pakistan, before the general elections took place in Pakistan. It is also reported that Shahbaz was finalising the names of his cabinet.

To put the blame on General Bajwa solely would be unfair.

It is also a known fact that Shahbaz and Nisar used to have regular meetings in the cover of dark with then COAS General Kiyani. This had never been denied by General Kiyani.

Furthermore, the whole country knows and had suffered for over 10 years due to the NRO organised by General Kiyani as Head of ISI with the blessing and authority of General Musharaf.

These are few well known incidents when army was involved in political affairs of Pakistan.

In any events the attacks at by Nawaz Sharif should be investigated. He said they don't have any axe to grind against PM Imran Khan. They are addressing those who has brought PM Imran Khan to the power.

We have to keep in mind that Nawaz Sharif is 3 times PM of Pakistan. His allegations should be taken seriously and investigated.

There are two possible outcome of the investigations. It could be proven that Army leadership did interfere with Political affairs of the country, in that case, it should be known to the Pakistani public. Or that Nawaz Sharif has lied and level baseless accusations against Pakistan Army in that case he should be tried for sedation and treason.

Such serious issues cannot be swept under the carpet for ever. For Pakistan to move forward this mess has to be cleared once and for all.

If Sharif's allegations are true, then who is responsible for all the damage to Pakistan, it's defence, it's economy caused by the rules of PMLN and PPP over the decades!!

Nonetheless, NRO is a known fact, which cannot be denied by the military leadership.

Under what rules and authority the NRO was organised, which was then termed "Illegal" by the Courts in Pakistan !!

General Bajwa comments thus are not entirely accurate. There are undeniable proofs available that Pakistani army had been involved in the political affairs of Pakistan for a very long time.
