Seriously dude,just get over '71.
A Small South Asian country with vast military capabilities, Bangladesh has been on media for quite sometimes for it's Military. The capabilities of Bangladesh Armed Forces is well known to it's neighboring forces since Indo-Pak War of 1965, When Bangladesh Army's 1st Bengal Regiment single handed gave Indian Army the most humiliating defeat of their history and how they drove Pakistan out in 1971. However, a recent Military Analysis shows that Bangladesh Army is now more powerful than Ever.
Defenders Paradise
Bangladesh has been labeled as Defenders Paradise by Military Analysts due to It's very strategic layout. According to experts, It is almost impossible for a single country to beat Bangladesh Army at frontal war due to Bangladesh geographic location and Army's clever layout. Further beyond, It is also said that it's two biggest current threat India and Myanmar can't afford to face Bangladesh in a full frontal war. In order for either India or Myanmar to attack Bangladesh, They have to use at least 21 divisions for attack which means India have to bring in Soldiers from It's border with China, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which leaves the whole border almost defenseless. Which will leave Bangladesh Army's guerrilla force totally uncontested to attack into India.
As for Myanmar, It is almost next to impossible to beat Bangladesh Army due to It's army's lack of Experience and weapons.
Submarine Purchase
According to Australian Navy's report, Bangladesh Navy's Submarine purchase is much more than just Patrolling it's maritime boundary. Navy is already received two Ming-Class Submarine which will be placed in newly constructed base near Bangladesh-India Border. Why would Bangladesh Navy purchase aging Ming-Class submarine? Good Question. The reason behind the purchase of two Ming class is to warm up it's Navy before procurement of two more Kilo Class from Russia and Three more classified submarine from Turkey by 2019. So, The navy can brace itself for a fleet consisting seven submarine by 2021.
It is important to know that most of Bangladesh Navy's information and procurement are kept secret until given green signal from Ministry of Defense. Such as the formation of SWADS were kept classified until 2009. There are rumors that Bangladesh Navy is building another special forces named "ODD71", However, all information has been kept intact.

A deeper glimpse into a rising military.

A small South Asian country with formidable military capabilities, Bangladesh is a rising major economic and military power in the region.
The capabilities of Bangladesh Armed Forces is well known to it's neighboring forces since Indo-Pak War of 1965,when Bangladesh Army's 1st East Bengal Regiment alone gave Indian Army the most humiliating defeat of their history.Seeing no chance to defend Lahore from a full-scale Indian invasion and all Pakistani allies being beaten and retreating, the East Bengal took the most valiant option available - put bombs & mines on themselves and run to the tanks and blow them up along with themselves.Thats quite ridiculous, but this brave desicion is the sole reason why Lahore and surrounding areas are still part of Pakistan.
Bangladeshi pilots? They served and maintained Pakistani superiority in aerial engagements through out the war.The most famous pilot of the war,Bangladeshi-born Ace known as M.M. Alam, who shot down 5 Indian jets in one minute only,4 of which were taken out in a 270° hard turn in 23 seconds.
In during the Six Day Arab-Israeli,even when the Arab allies had a tough time in aerial warfare,Bangladeshi-born pilot Saiful Azam went against the mainstream flow and got more kills against Israeli jets than any other pilot in history, and proved once again the superiority of Bangladeshi pilots.During the war,he initially served with Jordanian Air Force and then with the Iraqi Air Force before returning to homeland.
Perhaps the Bangladeshi Liberation War during 1971 was the most-known and acknowledged act of Bangladeshi Armed Forces as the newly formed Bangladeshi nation, facing over-whelming enemies and high casualities, struggled against Pakistan to form their own sovereign nation. After decades of tolerating West-Pakistani atrocies, the East-Pakistani population could not take anymore and took to arms after hundreds of thousands were massacred in the blood-soaked streets of Dhaka. They had to take severe damage at the early days of the war wnd the casualities were high.USSR & India supported Bangladesh while USA & China supported Pakistan.USA even sent their navy's largest formation - the 7th Expedition Fleet to the Bay of Bengal to assist the Pakistanis during the war, while the Soviets and Indians countered it with intercepting the US Fleet with a fleet of nuclear submarines, missile cruisers and nuclear threats. After moonsoon hit,the tables began to turn however ; the Bangladeshi side began to take over the war. After succesive operations like Operation Jackpot & Operation Barisal, the Pakistanis seemed to get on the losing side.Millions of freedom fighters fought against the Pakistani side for 9 bloody months and finally attained victory on 16th December,1971.This was not an easy accomplishment at all, they had to earn independence at the cost of 3 million lives, having their whole economy destroyed, the whole country was in anarchy and there were no infastructure. The newly formed state of Bangladesh had to suffer alot of hardships as they tried to re-build and retain its former glory.
During the Gulf War of 1991,Bangladeshi troops,at the request of the ruler of Saudia Arabia, deployed thousands of troops to defend Saudi Arabia from Iraqi offensive during Operation Desert Shield. These troops also participated in the Coalition Offence of Kuwait known as Operation Desert Storm. After the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi control,Bangladeshi troops didn't stop - instead, they took a major part in Operation Rebuilding Kuwait and undertook de-mining operations all over Kuwait.
Defenders Paradise
Bangladesh has been labeled as Defenders Paradise by military analysts due to it's very strategic geographic layout.According to experts,it is very hard for a single country to beat Bangladesh Army at frontal war due to Bangladesh geographic location and Army's clever layout.
Soft Alluvian soil means that heavy tanks and artillery cannot move off-road,making them easy ambush targets on road. The extremely humid climate, heavy rainfall, thick morning fog, extreme heat means that sensors would have problems operating in such climate, even Indian light tanks bogged down on our soil during '71.Thick forests would be a JACKPOT location for ambushing, and so is the lush farmlands.Bangladeshi people know their country very well, and can exploit its environment for ambushes. The rough moonsoon rain and floods from April to December would mean most of the low lying floodland would be frequently flooded ( just think of what a pain in the rear it would be ).And whats the worst of all? The small country has hundreds of rivers flowing all throughout it.After you cross every few kilometers, expect to run into a river ( you would know how hard river crossing is for an army ).
And expect a very fierce resistance from Bangladeshis.Bangladesh is arguably the world's most densely populated country and has the 8th largest population on Earth, making an enemy expect the sharpest resistance almost everywhere they go.Bangladeshis are extremely proud and patriotic, they are ready to do anything for their country. This has been proved in 1971,when tens of millions of citizens gave up everything they had and took to arms.
Further beyond its also said that one of Bangladesh's largest and strongest threats,India would have difficulty facing Bangladesh in a full frontal war. In order for either India to attack Bangladesh, they have to use at least 21 divisions for attack which means India have to bring in soldiers from her border with China & Pakistan which leaves the border vulnerable for a Pakistani or Chinese counter-strike.India can only maintain dominance if it only sticks to aerial and naval warfare.
As for the other threat - Myanmar,it is impossible for them to beat Bangladesh Army due to their lack of war experience, training, disclipine, war budget, equipment and finally - able and ready soldiers.
Air Force
Bangladesh Air Force may be small and neglected, but the Gov't is working on it - purchasing 10 Squadrons of 4++ Generation Aircraft.
The BAF purchased Karakorum K-8W/Hongdu JL-8 Advanced Jet Trainer, Yakolev Yak-130 "Mitten" Advanced Jet Trainer/Lead-In-Fighter Trainer Aircraft. These birds will train 600 BAF pilots for 2 years ( one has already passed ) and then the Gov't will decide its future fighters and purchase the first batches of the 10 planned squadrons.
Gov't wants 6 squadron of air superiority fighters,4 squadrons of multi-role fighters with decent maritime strike capability.
The aircrafts evaluated are Chinese Chengdu J-10B/C,American Lockheed Martin F-16 block 50+ Fighting Falcon,Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 SMT Fulcrum,Sweedish Saab JAS-39 NG Gripen,Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-35 Super Fulcrum,American Lockheed Martin F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet and Sukhoi Su-30 MKK/MK2 or Su-30 MKB ( our variant,the B is for Bangaldesh )
So far,the most possible birdie is Mikoyan MiG-35 for air superiority role and Sukhoi Su-30 MKK/MK2/MKB for the multi-role combat aircraft.
For SAM,BAF currently has 2 batteries of FM-90N SHORADS and LY-80E is on order.
Army
Bangladesh Army has increased its reserve army to 2 million mark, reaching the 6th Largest mark.
The standard soldiers of Bangladesh would be upgraded to Future Soldier System standards.Already soldiers of the East Bengal Regiment ( Yeah, the same guys you read earlier ) and some parts of the 46th Independent Brigade as well as the 1st Para-Commando Battalion have been upgraded to that level.
Bangladesh Army is already upgrading its Type-59s to Type-59BD,our version of the Al-Zarrar tank under the 902 Heavy Workshop of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories.
44 MBT-2000/VT-4A "Al-Khalid" tanks have been procured.
Two more regiments of possibly Type-90 MS Proryv/Tagil would be procured from Russia in the near future.
Our 330 BTR-82A IFV's delivery would start by the end of this year.
For SAM,Army has 2 regiments of FM-90N SHORADS and LY-60D is on order.
Navy
Bangladesh Navy will soon purchase a half-dozen newer frigates,3 squadron of fixed wing aircraft ( probably JF-17/FC-01 Thunder block 3 ) as per Forces Goal 2030.
Bangladesh Navy's Submarine purchase is much more than just patrolling it's maritime boundary. Navy is already received two Ming-Class Submarine which will be placed in newly constructed base near Bangladesh-Myanmar Border. Why would Bangladesh Navy purchase aging Ming-Class submarine? Good Question. The reason behind the purchase of two Ming class is to warm up it's Navy before procurement of two more Kilo Class from Russia or Song Class from China by 2019-2020 and three more classified submarine from Turkey or China by 2021. So, The navy can brace itself for a fleet consisting seven submarine by 2021.
It is important to know that most of Bangladesh Navy's information and procurement are kept secret until given green signal from Ministry of Defense. Such as the formation of SWADS were kept classified until 2009. There are rumors that Bangladesh Navy is building another UDT specialized special force named "ODD71", However, all information has been kept intact.
