Militants post appeal of kidnapped Saudi diplomat

CAIRO (AP) — Militants have posted online a video in which a man identifying himself as a Saudi diplomat kidnapped by al-Qaida in Yemen appeals to Saudi Arabia's rulers to respond to his captors' demands and save his life.
In the four-minute clip that appeared on a militant Web site late Friday, a man saying he is Abdullah al-Khaldi asks King Abdullah to grant the kidnappers' demands, including the release of detained women. The video bore the logo of al-Qaida's media arm, al-Malahem.
Al-Khaldi, who is Saudi Arabia's deputy consul in the Yemeni port city of Aden, was abducted in late March. Al-Qaida's Yemen branch claimed responsibility.
"I appeal to King Abdullah, the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques and the Saudi government, to save me and get me out of (captivity by) the al-Qaida organization in exchange for releasing the detained sisters .. and the rest of the demands," al-Khaldi said. He did not say what those other demands were, but Saudi officials say the abductors also asked for a ransom.
Al-Khaldi said in the video that his colleagues had worked as spies helping the Americans. He said three Saudi security officials were involved in "gathering information and data as well as monitoring al-Qaida's sites and commanders .. and the information is being relayed to the American forces to send a plane to these targets."
Al-Khaldi, who appeared dressed in a Saudi-style white Arab robe and checkered headdress, begged the king to return him to his family.
Saudi Interior Ministry has confirmed the kidnapping and said that a Saudi citizen on the kingdom's most-wanted list of terror suspects, Mashaal Rasheed al-Shawdakhi, relayed the demands by telephone to their embassy in Yemen. The Saudis say that al-Qaida's demands included paying a ransom and releasing top al-Qaida prisoners, both Saudi and Yemeni, currently in Saudi jails, as well as half a dozen women prisoners held there.
The Interior Ministry said al-Shawdakhi warned that the diplomat could be killed if the demands were not met.
Yemen's political turmoil has caused a security vacuum in the country, giving al-Qaida the chance to seize large swaths of territory across the restive south. Government forces have recently launched several offensives on militant-held towns.
The United States has thrown its support behind Yemen's new president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, who has vowed to combat al-Qaida as a top priority.

God help you and save you from those monsters. :(

This is very sad to hear. we hope it comes out peacefull. If Alqada do their claim, they will be putting the last nail in their couffin.

.
Send in a team of SAEQAH just incase the captors try to screw up after demands are met.

.
I am really confused now...It is always being said in this foroum that SA has many passive supporters of AL queda. But if this is the case then why would they kidnapp SA diplomat?

Very difficult. Such an operation on AQAP HQ needs a lot more planning. And SAEQAH teams are in war combatants not special forces. You can say they are equal to the German WaffenSS. These operations are more likely to be carried out by "The special LIWA" or the navy's "Human frogs" units.

We carried out a similar operatin in Yemen to rescue German abducted girls but was met with complainsts from Yemen over breech of sovereignty.

Because this forum is full of BS.

Saudi Arabia has been suffering from terrorism and alqada since 1990's; you name it, bombing, kidnapping, targeting officials, even targeting industrial sectors, etc.... This current crisis is just another page in their crimes folder in KSA

It is counter intuitive to say KSA supports them... This forum has some members who are misleading people in purpose and it is strongly recommended to do facts checking for anything you read here or online.

I said it over and over and over again but nobody listens. We have had so many people that died due to their terrorism. There are no people who are more Anti-Alqaeda/Terroism in the world than us right now. All you have to do is take a walk across Arabic military and religious forums and you will see that clearly.

People in this forum say the most arrogant of lies about us Herr everyday. Our job as saudis in this forum is expose the truth and put the liars in their place.

Time for KSA to take deep strikes into Yemen?

More like time for KSA to annex Yemen!

The problem is that a lot of people confuse AQ with legitimate jihadi groups like the FSA and Taliban. They say we support the US and Israel while we support/export Alqaida and terrorism! Their biggest enemy! and some how we are still able to maintain very good relations with the US, while Pakistan is publicly officially accused by the US government of supporting terrorists!.
Instead of wasting our time trying to educate every ignorant person here, we should ramp up the counter propaganda!, Saudi style;)

I hope the diplomat is safely recovered & returned to his family. Al Qaeda & all the other terrorist morons along with their supporters across the world need to be utterly annihilated. Hopefully their annihilation will be right around the corner so that people may finally live peacefully.
