Militants kill one engineer in pre-dawn Pak airport attack

Heavily armed militants today attacked an airport and its radar system in Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province, killing one aviation engineer while kidnapping the manager of the airport.

A group of around 12 motorbike-borne militants launched a pre-dawn attack on the Jiwani airport in Gwadar district, some 980 kilometers from Quetta and the site of Pakistan's upcoming port-city where China has made huge investments.

Police said that an aviation engineer was killed and another engineer was injured in the attack while the militants also kidnapped Mehmood Niazi, the manager of the airport.

"Around 12 armed men on six motorcycles attacked the airport at around 4:30 am killing a Civil Aviation Authority engineer," Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed Abro said, adding "four local Baloch were also present at the airport at the time but were spared by the attackers".

The radar system of the airport has also been destroyed.
The injured engineer was airlifted for treatment in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch has condemned the attack.
"Those responsible for the attack will be traced and punished," the Chief Minister said.

No group has taken responsibility for the attack suspected to be the handiwork of Baloch nationalists, who regularly attack Pakistani security forces and installations in the province.

Last year, armed men in security forces' uniform attacked the international radar system in the coastal town of Pasni in Gwadar killing one security man and injuring another.

Militants had also attacked the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi in June last year in which 36 people were killed, including 10 militants.

This Air Port came under attack few months ago also their should have been at least 30 security forces personal deployed their all the time.

as usual the security was lax that resulted in the death of a civilian engineer and the abduction of another.

bickering over Indians wont help. the security was lax to non-existent. hence the attackers never had to confront them.
just like the broad day light murder of Amir Haider advocate in karachi in broad day light when the murder was happening a police mobile with armed police was driving past the murder scene without even bothering to stop.
Indians are doing what any worthy enemy will do. either dont let that happen or do the same to your enemy ,, crying and b1itching will only make you a laughing stock.

Balochistan militancy has seen a downword trend recently so a reprisal attacks were expected. I already predicted that in the other thread that the handlers of these proxies will do something like this just like they did against Ashraf Ghani... Kabul has been so brutally punished for his friendly ties with Pakistan that he has literally yelled for mercy and forgiveness and the attacks only stopped once he reverted to Karzai's usual rhetoric against Pakistan.

this is a dirty proxy war and Indians have made it official that they dont want PCEC to succeed and they never like Gawadar anyway and they will do anything to keep us bogged down on the western side from KPK to Balochistan.

what we need is a combined fight from individual civilian level to state level to defeat our enemy. the Karachi operation against the financiers of terrorism and the terrorists is one such step.
