An Army oil depot has caught fire in the attack in Tangdhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir

Tangdhar: Three terrorists who attacked an army base in Jammu and Kashmir's Tangdhar this morning have been killed after a five-hour gunbattle. A civilian was also killed in the firing.

At around 6:15 am, three to four terrorists attacked from the back of the battalion headquarters in Tangdhar - located about 150 km from state capital Srinagar - using small firearms and grenade launchers. A soldier was injured in the intense firing; some vehicles and barracks were also damaged.

The terrorists, who were unable to enter the camp, positioned themselves at a mountainous ridge near the camp, which is located near the Line of Control.

There are about 80 soldiers in the base.

About 100 kilometres away in Manigah in Kupwara, anti-terror operations have been on for about two weeks. Last week, 38-year-old Army Colonel Santosh Mahadik was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the region.

Good. You must be in ICU then.

Jawan killed in 'fidayeen' attack on Army camp in J&K's Kupwara, encounter on

Jammu: A group of heavily armed Pakistan-backed terrorists attacked an army camp at Tangdhar near Line of Control (LoC) in the wee hours of Wednesday. One army jawan was also killed in the terrorist attack at army post in Tangdhar.
The incident took place in the Kupawar district of J&K, which prompted the armed forces to retaliate in equal measures.

As per reports, around 7.30 am, three to four terrorists positioned themselves at a mountainous ridge near the camp, which is located near the LoC. The terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the Army camp and
also threw grenades.

"There was a stand off fire from Kalsuri Ridge (in Tangdhar sector) towards an Army camp this morning," a senior Army official told PTI.

He said there was a brief lull before the militants opened fire again, triggering off a gunbattle, which was going on till last reports came in.

The official said the militants seem to be heavily armed as they used small fire arms and Under Barrel Grenade Launchers to carry out the attack. "So far there are no casualties reported," he added.

Tangdhar sector is close to the LoC in Kupwara district and has been used as an infiltration route in the past.

The official said it was not yet clear whether the militants were part of infiltrating group. "That is a matter of investigation. We can comment on it only after the operation is over," he added.

An Army Oil Depot reportedly caught fire. A massive combing and search operation has also begun. There are about 80 soldiers in the base. Later, Ajaz Ahmed, SSP Kupwara told reporters that more than three militants are involved in the attack on the Army camp and they are most probably 'fidayeens'.

Emotionally the argument is valid-poor kashmiris fighting the indian regime. But rationally it does not work. What does this gain Pakistan which most militants support merger with-we aren't liberating kashmir anytime soon. The best service the rebels can do is write about and tell the world about Indian atrocities in Kashmir, not take up arms against India when they simply cannot win-unless there is solid support from Pakistan.

I am aware that there are many core reasons for this insurgency but I don't fully support these attacks. In war it may be fine but otherwise useless. Also i appreciate that some militants only attack soldiers and not civilian populations and as I said these are soft militant groups but I am still concerned. Though India is spreading terrorism in our territory I still don't see the logic or eye to eye with these freedom fighters as they like to call themselves. India justifies its military occupation of Kashmir because of these people. Lets not give them these justifications.

Talk of this incidence!

I too can post news where terrorists in Pakistan have been mourned and eulogized for being killed inside Pakistan. This is a Pakistani forum hence cannot post what is happening in Baluchistan as its violates forum rules. Any third party forum, I would have shown you the true picture of Pakistan with Photos and Videos.
