Srinagar: An Army convoy was attacked my militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara district on Wednesday morning.

Three jawans were injured in the indiscriminatory fire from the militants.

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to neutralise the terrorists.

This is the second attack on an army convoy in the past one month in Kashmir

Militants ambushed an army convoy in North Kashmir’s Handwara Wednesday morning injuring three soldiers. The army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the militants responsible for the attack.

Locals said the attack occurred on the Baramulla – Handwara highway near Kralgund Udipora village. The convoy was on its way from Kupwara to Baramulla when the attack took place.

This is the second attack on an army convoy in the past one month. On August 17, militants had launched a similar attack on an army convoy on the national highway at Khawjabagh Baramulla that left two soldiers and a police man dead. The militants had then fled from the spot.
Post the attack, the army started moving its convoys during the day. After the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, the army had been moving its convoys during the night to avoid confrontation with civilian protestors.
