I am also a bit puzzled on the 25 year comment. I would have said 40 years if we take the relations from Deng's period. Even if we consider US' covert support to China by looking the other way during Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, then it should have been 30 years. If we consider US support for China's membership to WTO then it would have been 15 years. What is the event around 1993 that Mike Pence is alluding to is unclear. May be there has been an un-announced agreement since then.

There were ups and downs of US n China relations but we were never allies, US treated China the same it treated most countries and does US should also be responsible for those economically failed allies?

You must be very bad at history，Check what happened after 1989，not only they sanctioned us ，all other western allies were asked to stop any cooperation with china including funding from IMF，China‘s foreign investment was cut off over 75% after that，if this is not hard sanctions I don't know what can be called hard sanctions
